Default GT2 RS

I am new to Rennlist. I have owned a 1997 993 Turbo from new, so I suppose I now qualify as a long-term Porsche owner. I just took delivery of a GT2 RS, which may be the craziest thing I have ever done in my life and only happened because I fell under the influence of a Maryland-base Rasputen known as Chuck Goldsborough, whom I am sure many of you know. The question of the moment is this: I would like to cover the vulnerable surfaces in film, but the dealer has warned me to beware of doing anything to the carbon fiber -- no wax, no wash, no anything -- until he gets feedback from Germany regarding the care and feeding of this strange material. The car even came with a laminated warning not to wax the stuff. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure you're right to wait for word back from Porsche on the care of those larger CF areas. On close inspection, the hood is under clear coat (paint, like the rest of the car) but I've not seen Porsche products with a matte finish. I saw savyboy put clear wrap on his car and that resulted in a nice gloss finish on the hood and door sills, etc. Still, I'd wait for Porsche to say what they'll accept.

Congratulations on two "apex" Porsches. Let's check back in fifteen years and see what you get for your third 911. It should be quite something.

I'm having a Mat Clear film installed on the hood and mirrors. I don't expect any issues. Porsche says not to wax because it will turn the Satin finish clear coat shiny. A new hood costs over $8k. I would cry the first time a rock tore it up.
