Glad to see another Z8/GT3 guy... I've met more than a few. It is a fun car on the track, I've had my Z8 out at Laguna, Button Willow, Infineon and Thunder Hill. Not nearly as capable as the 3, but lots of fun. As for the LSD, many owners have installed one.

I am going to repost the ads the proper way....one with the Z and the other with the RS. To those of you tracking the Z8s, you have more guts than me! I always wanted to, but my wife would kill me....she is a black belt.

To 911SLOW...no conspiracy with the 2 screen names. My wife (of 26 years) is on board with all the moves.

Default Z8

Had a 2001 Z8 (plus many Porsche 356's, hence 'z356') for four years & 8K miles. Bought it used in 2003 and sold it in 2007. Only modern sport car in recent years that I have owned and NOT taken a big loss during ownership! Surprisingly comfortable ride. A friend, Andrew McPherson (MacFly) who used to own a 996 gt3 and was member of this forum, has a very nice website dedicated to this vehicle :http://bmwz8.us/vbb/index.php? My car was silver with red/black interior. Good memories! Good luck with the sale. z356

No matter what I sell it for, it will be a big. Loss. First....take my opportunity cost of capital. Had I invested the $121k back in 2001 and ran it like my current portfolio, it would be worth $216k....being conservative! Add in the upkeep and I probably lost $150k....but it was worth every penny. What a great car! My wife had a motorcycle accident 2 years ago and it screwed up her right hand so shifting it bothers her. She maybe drove it 1000 miles the last 2 years. Awesome garage!

Amazing "Wall of cool stuff". Is that you garage? Andrew and I are great friends. The photos at BW were from an event with Jack, you probably know him.

Yes, that was my garage at our second home in Nevada. I transferred that memorabilia to our new home in Vail Valley, CO since our Carmel garage is small. The Vail collection is a combination of rally plates, rally badges, Nardi & other steering wheels, Heuer time pieces, ADAC enamel signs and other Porsche memorabilia I have collected over the past 20 years. It needs a large space to be properly displayed. The Carmel memorabilia collection is smaller but it contains my best vintage rally plates from the fifties and my significant rally trophies.

I might have met Jack when Andrew had a Z8 gathering here in Carmel for the Historics in 2007, just after I sold my car. That was a memorable reunion. Andrew is a great guy, a superb photographer and a true car enthusiast. Schmidts, I remember your RS Orange car at the Mothers' stand at Laguna Seca a few years back. Great car. z356

Hi guys, first time on Rennlist for a while, but Ian told me about this thread. Eduardo, good to see your car, and that magnificent collection of rally plates again!
After the GT3, which I loved and did 40 track days with, I went to Lotus, they joyous fun of them at the track just has to be tried to be believed. Since the recession the Lotus's have gone, but the Z8 is stil with me, with a few other BMW's.

I tried to post pix here, but it seems like i'm over my quota from the old days, so here are a pair of links to my two new brisk bimmers...

Andrew, a misst ye sae muckle! I think it's time for you to return to a gt3 and take advantage of the unusually low prices in this odd market! Hope to see you at the Historics if you are coming in August. Saludos, z356
