Default Tire Ques -- To patch or not to patch . . . .

Apologies if this has been asked 1,000 times previously. This morning I got a "flat tyre" message on my Spyder (driver's side, rear). Down 13 lbs. Pumped it up, to get to work, but I am guessing I have a nail or screw in my tire. I just bought two new rears (Pirelli P Zeros), on account of a nail, not even 3 months ago. I want to cry.

Question is this -- assuming the nail or screw isn't on the edge of the sidewall, can I go ahead and have it patched, even though I occasionally take the car to the track?

I think most would agree if you're taking it to the track you should replace the tire. If you were just driving it around town; not as necessary to replace.

Do you not have any insurance coverage for the tires?

Thanks. Correct, no insurance coverage for the tire . . . but I am going to call my insurance co, to see what kind of coverage I can get going forward. Just out of control -- my wife had a nail in her tire too, not even 2 months ago! What a waste of time, money and resources . . . .

Thanks for the links. Decided to replace the tire. And I bought the extra insurance this time around.

I've patched and even plugged tires and finished them off at the track. No problem, but maybe I was lucky. I'd run it patched. Patch the tire and at least keep it for the road.

The screw in the tire was too large, and too close to the edge, such that a patch fix was just a non-starter.

Yes, there's that to worry about also. Too bad.
