The tip was introduced in 89 with the 964 on the 2 wheel drive cars. The 4 wheel drive cars didn't get it until the 996.

If they were to learn anything from the GT2 RS campaign, I think it would be to make sure they reach the market _early_ with real information to raise awareness and generate demand.

Race Car
I wouldn't like to see the PDK, however good that tranny is, it wouldn't meet what I would see as a perfect end, a Lightweight, high HP limited edition.....

I doubt it will have 500 Hp.
Unrestricted ALMS RSR with engines that last 40 hours or less, no emission controls and no sound limits are barely touching 530 Hp on race fuel.
It should be lighter, they can take the same approach as the GT2 RS, such as optional carbon fenders, and all the special lightening they did.
It should be called GT3 RSR, they should sell it at $200k and make it a limited production car with 500 units only. It will sell out quicker than the GT2 RS did.

If Porsche were to tip their hand and announce the 4.0LE, what will happen to their current crop of unsold regular GT3RS's. Wouldn't that undercut their sales of a desirable current model that's making them a great profit? Same reason why Porsche doesn't build a Cayman that will be higher performing than the 911 platform or race them even though those cars will be superior to win against the competition.
