The tip was introduced in 89 with the 964 on the 2 wheel drive cars. The 4 wheel drive cars didn't get it until the 996.

I can just pray that they pump them out like kittens. That's the only way I'm ever going to be able to afford one. None of this LE stuff.

Agreed. They might talk of 500 cars (and I would say that means an abundant supply given the tepid reception to the GT2 RS) but if they just give up the nonsense of trying to "control" unscrupulous dealers and gouging (again, look how far it got them with the GT2 RS) and just said they'll build one for every legit customer, then we'd have a real finale.

If they were to learn anything from the GT2 RS campaign, I think it would be to make sure they reach the market _early_ with real information to raise awareness and generate demand.

I wouldn't like to see the PDK, however good that tranny is, it wouldn't meet what I would see as a perfect end, a Lightweight, high HP limited edition.....

I doubt it will have 500 Hp.

Unrestricted ALMS RSR with engines that last 40 hours or less, no emission controls and no sound limits are barely touching 530 Hp on race fuel.

It should be lighter, they can take the same approach as the GT2 RS, such as optional carbon fenders, and all the special lightening they did.

It should be called GT3 RSR, they should sell it at $200k and make it a limited production car with 500 units only. It will sell out quicker than the GT2 RS did.

Unlikely, that should be reserved for the 991GT3.

If Porsche were to tip their hand and announce the 4.0LE, what will happen to their current crop of unsold regular GT3RS's. Wouldn't that undercut their sales of a desirable current model that's making them a great profit? Same reason why Porsche doesn't build a Cayman that will be higher performing than the 911 platform or race them even though those cars will be superior to win against the competition.

Agree. HP change in N/A cars is linear with displacement increase.....4.0 vs. 3.8 = +~5.3% or 475hp. Let's just hope it is the Mezger block (deposit placed !).

you could be on the money there ... seems like they would use the 991 launch to announce a more powerful 9A1 variant rather than the 997/mezger swansong ...

we shall see ...
