I think the 959 was a technological tour de force in it's day - the F40 on the other hand is just a focused race car.

Italian trash for me. No brainer.

F40 for me please. It always been one of my favorite cars of all time and while the 959 may have been leaps and bounds ahead of the time, it just doesn't give me the visual satisfaction the F40 does. White with black wheels if at all possible

It's a shame they didn't make more "Sport" 959's instead of "Comfort" cars ... Kind of like today when you see pictures from the GT2 RS delivery event and most of the cars don't have the sport buckets...

This comparison is for the dreamers. After all, anyone really able to afford either 959 or F40 can afford both ... if they can't, then they're fooling themselves they can afford one or the other. If there's religion in one or the other, that should tend to make the decision, too. So I doubt this comparison occurs much if at all.

I don't think I've even sat in a 959. Not even sure I've seen a "real" one outside maybe a museum. I've seen many of the (dubious) Canepa cars. I'd enjoy having a 959 in Dakar configuration. But it doesn't really keep me awake.

I've not sat in an F40, though a friend had one in the 90's and I was stupid enough not to buy one in 2000 when they were out of favor. Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

The GT2 RS has given me little, if any, "wow" but it has set the price point in mind: For say $300K budget (including costs, taxes) would I step up to a Carrera GT or would I go with an F40? Both of which, I think you could own and drive either car and end up having it cost far less than the GT2 RS. And both of which, I could see myself keeping to the grave (which, driving either, could be soon.)

love the f40, but doubt any of the press cars would ever be up for sale.

F40 - no doubt. The quintessential super car.

I believe I would take the F40 as well. Have to say, I really never liked the way the 959 looked. The F40 looks like a super car.

Funny how they mention on Top Gear that its the Porsche with all the electronics and the F40 that's the driver's car. Flash forward to 2011 and my, how the roles have reversed. The lack of driver aides is the very reason we love our GT3's.

never driven or sat in either, but I prefer the F40. I already have too many Porsches and getting bored.

Drove an F40 and I can honestly say that I have never felt G-forces in my face while accelerating in a straight line before, or since!!! Absolutely brutal speed when the turbos kick in!!! The car was the very hard riding, it creaked and the brakes squealed very badly the car was hot and smelled of burned oil - in short, I loved it!!!! If I owned one, I would either be in jail or dead!
