Well I tried.

Just bid $155k for sport (had an exciting few seconds), oh yeah.

But, it keeps coming back telling me I've been outbid by $100 and asking if I want to increase bid, which I did. Got tired of it after a few increases so I'm out. Didn't really want it anyway cause, as has been said, it's got the wrong seats, sheesh.

The (unloved) '09 GT2 isn't down 50% in two years, so it's unrealistic to expect the limited production '11 GT2 (notwithstanding/regardless of the RS moniker) to somehow suffer worse. I think you just take the '09 and maybe look at it a little optimistically (since there's no GT2 variant on the horizon now for the better part of a four year model cycle.) At an MSRP of about $260K, surely $180-200K immediately resale value (if it's in line with the 2011 GT3 RS, by average) and maybe higher, but there's too much space below it to get down to the next model tier and too few cars built in total to weaken the supply-demand balance.

I think this car on eBay is probably already causing backlash from Porsche at least in NA not wanting people waiting for the new car to see it already going unsold and on the speculator scene.

And the center of the picture is simply that Porsche couldn't sell all of the 100+ they brought into the country, so if you wanted to find a buyer on the secondary market in the near term (months) you probably just can't find one. And McLaren has sucked all the air out of the room by offering the 12C below the GT RS and below the 458, creating a sort of "floor" for the non-brand-affiliated buyer. Tricky market.

As ever, if you want and can afford the car, buy it on its merits -- don't buy it "for the next buyer" or for any hopes of a resale "soft landing."

Not sure but I think this might have beat the record of the GT3 RS....
This looks like the game Ferrari dealers play: "sell" the car to a sister non-Porsche dealership, then hope to get over MSRP. It doesn't bother me that someone sells for over list, but they go through this exercise so they don't get their hands slapped by the factory. Or get criticised by their customers etc.

Funny. For a brief moment there I was tempted when I saw this this morning but then I realized it had the busted seats. Thats a complete turn off. Seats are a fetish of mine.

On a related note I will be needing a sports vehicle for the spring and summer as I turned in my 458 back to the dealer - he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. He bought the car back at MSRP (in order to flip it to someone else) and gave me a new may build slot. So I figured I get new car in a new color and spec for no out of pocket cost but I am out of car for about 5 months. Odd games f-car dealers play.

So perhaps a 997.2 GT3? Or even a 997.1 RS? Whats the value play these days? I want to get some track days in April - July.

I think I'll just wait a few years.
Who knows maybe the price comes down or PAG comes out with another rocketship we can all drool over!
