It appears the bar will fit in sunroof 997. Try to fit it, and if not, you can always have TC Design shorten the legs.
Avoid the the shortening of the legs if you can as it appears anybody that has gone this route has a harder time selling their bar on the used market.....

How does Porsche install the plates in the Clubsport optioned cars? Perforating the floor may be simple but what about long term rust issues?

Porsche has the plates welded into place and only uses enough beads of weld to attach the plates and to avoid warping the tub with excess heat.

im not sure if the floor is painted under the plates, however there are no holes drilled through the floor to allow water entry anyhow.

As usual, the after-market is full of compromises.
So between installing the OEM cage, drilling the floor, and an after-market cage that does not require drilling or welding, what's the better choice?
On my 6GT3 I went with the RS cage; with the new 2011 RS I am not sure what to do.

note the 997 techquipment bar fits perfectly in a 997.1 "sunroof" GT3 and the roof functions perfectly ... at least it did in my car.

for the 2011 RS i would install the porsche tech bar. Factory. Clean.

I would only do the clubsport bar in the RS if you are doing something that the rules require it for participation.

Just here there's one shortened bar that doesn't allow the sunroof to open (Gus F) and one that hasn't been shortened and the sunroof works (Izzone). Must come down to the install and I know I have a great guy here in the bay area with Tony at TC Design.
Yeah have known Tony for years... Great guy. He will do it right.

On the issue of plates in the floor, the tin on the floor board is as thin as it gets. When I install I make an L shaped bracket so bar rest on the plate (and about an inch more around the sides) then I go UP the rear part of the seat. This is THICKER material and now IF there is an issue you are not simply trying to punch a hole in the floor but the bracket is welded in another axis. WAY stronger.
