Think twice before buying a new Porsche
Was sitting down doing some financial planning and decided to work out the cost of owning the GT3. I was glad I was sitting down! I'll save you the morbid details, but the depreciation alone works out to $1,375/month... and that's over 40 months.
I had owned three pre-owned Porsches before this one, so I don't know what possessed me to buy new. I got caught up in the "order the options *I* want" mentality. Oddly, most GT3's are ordered pretty similar in spec so I could have easily found the right spec had I waited.
If I could go back in time, I would have waited a year and bought a pre-owned one. I would have missed out on 12 months of track fun, but at least the financial hit would not have been so bad.
If you're in the market for a new one now, think about buying pre-owned and save yourself the tears.

No tears here. I'm getting to spec the car as I want.; pick up at the factory and
break in the vehicle in its natural setting.
Hmmm... on second thought. Maybe tears of joy lol

My two Turbos were bought that way, they 6000 miles and 2500 miles, both basically mint (the 09 was 3 months old!). Saved 25-30% off sticker that way. It's definitely the way to buy these cars. Unfortunately for my RS I was too picky about options and due to the rarity of the color combo and options I wanted, I dove in and bought new. Oh well
I think if you are not too fussy about options then buying a 6-18 month old car is a no-brainer.

Of my 4 Pcars, only my 05 C2S cab was new. Other 3 were garage queens!
Did it once, glad I did, but definitely not in a hurry to repeat the cash burn..... but I`ll never say never!!

When I bought pre owned I just refused to offer more money than a basic car....so options brought no value in my price negotiations.
Now I really wish I did not have full leather, plastic is easier to wipe track scum off of.
