I'm about to buy a trailer and start trailering to the track so I can carry more crap. My question is where are the anchor points on the car that you use to secure it? A quick look under and I didn't see any rings. Are you anchoring the car via the wheels or on the supension parts?
Thanks

I anchor the car by the wheels. Strapped down to floor mounted hoops.
In theory it's better to tie the wheels to a rail where they are pushed down onto the floor instead of being tugged at and possibly screwing up the alignment.

Some folks attach anchor points, such as those sold by Rennline, to their under carriage and strap from there to the trailer.
You will have many opinions on which is the best way.
ps a little plug for Trailex and my friend Chris

I think most people use the wheel straps.
I mounted hooks on my front jacking plates using an ez to install piece from Rennline and use them as the front tie down points. They also make rear hooks.
I think the wheels work fine and are easy to do.
If you're looking for straps and stuff, www.etrailer.com has lots of good stuff.

Do the wheels get scratched much by the straps? Not that my car is concours...and have spun into the infield a few time so my wheels aren't perfect but I don't want a wear band where the strap rides.
Thanks

Get the ow hooks from rennline, they attach to jack points.
Directly to the frame fron (Must cross to clear front tires and attach to the subframe in the rear.
I don't like strapping wheels for scratches and allignment.
I've had them on both cars, works perfect.

Nothing personal.
But to me the preferred way to tie down the car would be the jack points, or rather the metal rings with holes just behind the front wheels and in front of the rears. I believe this is what these points were for (that and jacking up the car). I would not want the car tied down by the wheels, as I believe the jack points are more secure, and no chance of screwing up the alignment. Not only that but much easier to tie down in the exact same place, rather than putting a strap through the wheels, sometimes near the valve stem or not.
How do you think the car is transported to the dealerships-----must be the jack points and not the wheels.

Get:
1. RennLine front and rear tie down
http://www.rennline.com/Rennline-Fro...info/E32%2E04/
2. Mac Tie downs
http://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/category/PackageDeals
This is the best combo, and wont mess up the wheels or the alignment and you can strap down the car a lot faster.

For those of you who use the front jack pads....crawl under your car and have a look at them. Mine are spot welded in 3 or 4 places to the body. No way in hell I'd trust strapping my car on a trailer with those spot welds. I go through the wheels up front and use the Rennline tow hooks at the rear. If you use those rear ones, buy the ones meant for a GT3. Others are straight 90* and the hook could damage the oil line on the passenger side.
