Mac tie down with the soft padding. They are the best. I got a pic of my car being delivered and the shippers strap thru the wheels too. I have a rs with the red wheels and I have no marks. I have trailered from st louis to LA, and back forth a couple of times to the tracks. Probably 2500 miles. Not one mark or rub. Although I guess if you had track wheels that would be great support for buying them. Hmmmmm

Not sure what you mean by this? You think it would be good or bad for track wheels? (e.g. HRE or other 3 piece racing wheels)

I go through wheels. Besides being easy, the car's full suspension can absorb bumps when you tie down through the wheels.

As mentioned above, Macs has fleece wheel strap covers available in some of their prepackaged sets, or separately if you already have the straps. I have used these for 30+ events with no discernable wheel scratches.

The Rennline tie downs look pretty easy to install. Are they reliable? I may get a set.

Perhaps a bit. Sold a few thousand over the years.

That's what I was thinking. If the wheels don't fall off at 2g loads on the track they might possibly sustain the loads while strapped down to the trailer. Sure the angles may be a bit different but I am not going to lose sleep over that.

What is important to do when tying down through the wheels is to recheck the tightness after some driving. The wheels will rotate and slacken the straps.

Takes about 2 mins to install.
I've had them 2 years with no problems.
If your car is very low, these plates might hinder jacking. I can only fit a low profile jack.

+1 for the rennline tow hooks. Used all this season with no problems. Very quick and easy to just clip the tow straps on.
