997 turbo v GT3 RS
Whenever Ive seen people discuss the various pros and cons of these two cars generally what is said is that the Turbo is a great GT type car, very fast, comfortable etc compared to the GT RS which is more track focused hardcore etc.
On TG last night the 997 turbo was driven by the Stig and recorded a time that was slightly faster than the RS. Both were driven by the same person, on the same track, in similar conditions. I suspect the Turbo may have shaved a couple of hundreths of it it had been PDK equipped.
So, long story short, what is the attraction of the RS over the Turbo if lap times are essentailly the same but you have the comfort factor in a turbo?
thanks

you cannot debate TT vs RS.
it's not about how fast one is, or how much hp, .....
it's that they feel different.
you have to actually drive the two cars. you will like one over the other then that's the one you get.

You really need to drive one, hard, on the track to understand. The thrill and driver-involvement on the GT3/G3RS are like no others.

I saw the episode too. Unclear to me which GT3RS was tested -- I don't recall ever seeing the Stig lapping in a 997 GT3RS (Gen I or II), so perhaps the time recorded was in a 996 GT3RS? I would think that a 997.2 GT3RS would be faster around most tracks than a Turbo.

Turbo may post a better lap time in a hot lap or time attack but their heavier weight will catch up with them as the number of lap increases, similar to a Nissan GTR. Brakes and tyres will heat up faster and lead to fading and losing of traction.
