A real 911R would be great. Stripped to the bone, narrower body, shorter overhangs. That would be great.

A lighter, smaller (narrower, shorter) 912 with a four cylinder would be great, too. Fat chance.

That leaves only the Roadster as a moniker not yet abused.

America?
Roadster?
GT1?
911RSR?

And my personal favorite Porsche names the 1956 "Mickey Mouse" Spyder
or the 964 C4 lightweight that had no name at all.

Nope I think the 912 looks very close considering the 4 cyl sub boxster car.
Also this time I think that the newer 912 won't be a bad thing. They have excellent 4 cylinder TSi models in the VW group.

.1 at the end denotes a .2 version coming later right?

Last edited by 911SLOW; 10-12-2010 at 06:10 PM. Reason: Mooty cheated and edited his post originally was .1 at the end

What some call "street cred" is a delicate thing: There are plenty of people who think Porsches are for tools, and then there are people (usually hardcore driving people) who think Porsches are tools, and damned good, damned effective ones. Lose the faith with the latter and what's left? Everything Porsche worked (credibility, performance, value, timelessness) for as a sports car company is out the window.

I've heard a lot of cynics over the years regarding Porsche's various decisions, and am not ready to join them. That said, I do have some concern re: cheeseball $$$,$$$ Porsches, even if there are only a couple of them. It's a very good thing that the basic Carrera/Carrera S and GT3/RS are so good... Let's hope they stay that way.

I am not a white guy, well actually I am. Well no, I am a American Hispanic but really Caucasian with Hispanic heritage, so really I am not white, but I look like I am white but I hold my hispanic heritage close incase Mexico takes over the southwestern part of the USA, which they already have. But according to the University of California race relations board, I AM NOT white, but I dont claim
it on anything.
But I am not a white car person. I like colors like Gaurd Red, Midnite Blue, Cobalt blue all kinds but I am not a white guy.
But when I stepped in the showroom with the Carrera white C2S PDK on the floor, I stopped dead in my tracks. I think the way the brightness of the color contrasting on the floor, hilighting the lines of one of the best looking 911's I have ever seen. Coupled with the stone grey interior and it was a GREAT looking car. It took the test drive and I was hooked. Carrera white is a brilliant color for a 911.
Is there a bad one?

I guess this rumored 500hp RS could be called RS America. After all, the names don't make sense any more, so why not?

Amen to that. But even worse is the 991 wheelbase increase, for whatever reason that came about. I guess the tools may get it.
