imo there can only be 'one' gullwing.
all the others are a flash in the pan - and there will be heaps of them.
i reckon our streets will be flooded with them soon. the clk black series is a much better car.

I was actually thinking to myself last night that $500K is a big whack of Claude Monet!

For that I could buy a CLK BLK 63 for $185,000 and a Lambo Superlegerra MK1 for $315,000.

Having state this, I already have a C63 which I would be keeping if I bought the SLS and therefore the CLK BLK sort of defeats the purpose.

These stats also say that the C63 can hold her own when considering acceleration....

I am doubtful of this special version being true, but is certainly feasible that Porsche could make one. The GT1 block can go to 4.0 as seen in the RSR To cut weight further, they could apply the techniques used on the GT2 RS. They just went to the extreme with the GT2 and the GT3 RS can obviously now go further to the extreme as some of the lightwieght features can easily be applied. Why not one more version to squeeze a few more $ before the 997 line ends?

Assuming that Porsche decides to make this car, it is still quite a stretch to add 50hp (65hp over the GT3) with only 200cc more displacement. It means the redline will be over 9k revs, as far as I can tell (pretty high for a roadcar with a warranty)...

Sharkwerks already makes a 500hp with less displacement and good reliability. The 458 has a similar hp/displacement ratio as would a 500hp/4.0L.

Yes, but it's a bit easier to do 9k revs with 8 smaller cylinders (smaller piston masses and lower piston speeds).

Sharkwerks motor looks awesome, but the sample size is low and the time they have been on the road a bit short to conclude exactly how well the longterm reliability will work out (not that I'm doubting it).

That would suck for current RS owners. The NEW RS is limited by design. Then you want another type.

Personally I think 500 is too much for such a surgical instrument.

Well 6gt3 is 381 with 3.6. The 3.8 is 435 hp which runs around 54 hp with .2 liter upgrade. They already established with a better intake with 7.1 to get 415 out of 3.6 so more then likely 500 with 4.0 liter is realistic. Mike

If we can get 447 HP from a 4 liter, 2 valve air cooled engine, 500 from a 4 liter, liquid cooled engine is quite doable. As to why it was not brought out earlier, I suspect it is because they needed testing, including in ALMS and Grand Am.

This rumor has been picking up steam on the teamspeed forum. A couple of people claim with certainty it is on the way.

4 litre engine needs a bespoke crankshaft ( read expensive), and the reliability envelope will be maxed out. not sure if porsche would ever release that as a road car engine, but hey, who knows.....?????

yep, better to buy 2 cars. black series is a little bit fancy though..... there will be one featured in december edition of MOTOR magazine, it was raining on the test day though, so performance testing was compromised.
and there were a couple of c63's there as well......see what luffy has to report...?
