Default J D Powers, huh

Well, 500 miles and an oil leak in my 2011 GT3 RS. I guess this isn't a "delivery" issue, per the JD Powers review. Oh well, hopefully it's nothing huge.

No they don't. Porsche wants us to believe they all leak so Porsche doesn't have to accept responsibility.

OK, sorry for short response.....

Some weep for now (not noticable).........some leak now.....

RMS is installed backwards from a normal seal is to regulate crankcase pressure (crankcase runs at 5 vacuum), which in turn increases the horsepower at sustained high RPM. If car is not used and oil seeps past the seal, once this happens it is very difficult for the seal to properly seal again (due to the nature of a hard lip seal) but usually the seal does not leak with the engine running....... mine weeps. If you think yours does not leak, go under your car and put your finger on the seal it will be moist. If seal is leaking and motor running....engine is going bad, ask the cup car guys; rare on street car

I understand is is hard for some to understand that the $150K car they just bought leaks oil, if it is bad have it fixed.....if it is minimal just leave it.

Benefit of a GT3.....street legal race car.......negative; your engine was designed with performance / maintanable-relability as the only thought

The only fix is the 997.1 turbo seal.....you lose horsepower (5-8hp) and warranty

six 996gt3, none had any leaks
two .1GT3, non leaked
two .1RS, both leaked
current .2RS, no leaks

some cars were rarely driven.
some were driven like bat out of hell.
which one leaked had NO coordination of how the car was/is driven.

i dont really care about it, just providing datapoints.

My car leaks oil.................My golf cart leaks battery acid.........oil is easier to clean off the floor than battery acid

I believe the 997.2 seal is same design as 997.1......so in theory all 997 GT3 should leak......I do not know what seal a 996 GT3 used

Mooty......I cannot believe you owned a GT3 and it was rarely driven.....you just earned yourself one demerit

I had a leak too, it was and anodized fitting to the transmission... part took a few days to get from Germany and not to big of a deal to replace. Hopefully yours will be that simple too.

MKI GT3 17K miles, RMS replaced at 1000 miles, leaked a few weeks around 10K miles, went away by itself. Daily driver, now sold.
MKII RS 3K miles, normally daily driver, but has sat now for 2 weeks and I can't get it to leak, guess I go drive it again tomorrow.
