Has anyone run Nitto NT01 yet? I was at a time attack event and people were raving about them.

They don't have a 19 fitment, and their closest 18 fitment is pretty aggressive. 245 and 315. Not sure if they'd fit. Prices are reasonable and people were just gushing about the long lasting predictable performance.

Do a search (here and 996 GT3 forum) and you'll find a fair bit of info about Nittos. I'm running them on my 6-GT3 and really like them, except they don't come anywhere near the grip of the Hoosiers. For DEs and learning how to drive at the limit, I'm sticking with Nittos. Once my lap times get close to my driving coach's, then I'll move back to Hoosiers and go chase after some friends at the track.

Hoosier R6: 5 track days (corded at about 28 heat cycles)
Nitto NT-01: 8 track days (not corded yet but fairly close, about 45 heat cycles)

Cheers,

front hot pressure: 2.0 bar = approx 30 psi
rear hot: 2.1 bar = approx 30 psi (bit more ofcourse)

I have 9,000 miles on my Mercedes C63 and although she has never seen the track I have already replaced 3 sets on rears and 1 set of fronts using P zeros.

The vibration from your Michelins sounds like a flatspot to me.

I don't see how that's even possible for a street only car.

Are you doing burnouts out in front of the high school everyday as the kids are getting out?

I can't really see how it is possible either. Apparently the tyres are super soft.

The car does have bucket loads of power and I guess she is always fighting for grip under heavy load.

I have never, ever done a burn out. Having stated this, when you take off hard with the ESP in Sport it will kick sideways sometimes.

I actually have mates who get 2,500 Miles out of their rears on their C63's!!

So just to understand the whole heat cycle thing, I've done 4000+ km on my factory delivered MPSCs. Are they heat cycling each time I drive the thing and bring them to temp or only on the days I've been to track (thus far 2 days, 9 sessions)? Just asking because if all street sessions are included and average is 20-30 cycles, mine are probably toast dispite having 1mm of tread (rears) above minimum indicators? Yes/No?

The only time that they realistically go through a heat cycle is on the track or a targa stage over 12 KMs.

Having stated this, your tires are pretty old so you should consider replacing for the next track day.

BTW - What track days have your been doing?

Hey Condor,

Done a couple days at Phillip Island (PCM) and Winton (non PCM)... Planning to hit them both again in October and November- this time with an instructor...

MPSCs still have good tread depth (and 4 month old) so I intend to pull them off, move them to a set of track wheels and drive them into the ground at the next event (or two)... I'm far from experienced and am miles away from extracting the last tenths of seconds- just need time in the seat to learn. Therefore, if tyres are a little off, they'll help with learning to modulate the accelerator to drive with available grip ... I prefer them coming off the car as slicks, makes me feel like I've gotten value for money

Your car must be days off now, right?

I was at PCM on Wednesday and they said the 21st Sep is the expected arrival. So I booked in the car to have the whole front clip wrapped in a clear bra and the side guards for that day. (Targa Tas can pepper the front of your car)

If you like you can come on one of our Early Morning runs with the Porsche Club that's only for GT3's & RS's.

Also I have a few track days coming up at Sandown that you can come to with Instructors and a couple at Phillip Island days as well.

I will keep you posted.
