Castrol's container reads that bit is "Porsche Approved" but does not read that it is "A40" approved. The literature you provided from Castrol obviously indicates that it IS "A40" approved; so not likely a big deal. The only concern I have is that Castrol's oil is not API classified "SM" (Mobil 1 0w-40 is). Castrol is "SJ". All other certifications/classifications, etc... appear to be the same.

The latest classification is SM, so I'm not so inclined to jump to SJ; unless I'm missing something.

Pennzoil appears to be a good pick at this point as it is class'ed SM.

One of the things some folks do not like about API "SM" oils is the potentially lower ZDDP levels... If an oil is Porsched approved for the application, you're good-to-go IMO. Porsche tests these approved oils in your engine model so they know how the oil actually performs.

Default Porsche Europe

I wonder what Porsche recommends for their cars in Europe, and in particular, Germany? For many years Porsche has tailored their U.S. recommendations for U.S. laws and driving styles.
