MKI VS MKII Rear rotors

My shop here in HK sources from Porsche Motorsport and just quoted me at approx. $1.4k $1.2k for the front & rear pairs, respectively. Rotors only. Compatible with Gen 2 GT3 non-PCCB calipers.
I have a feeling stateside tuners may be able to get a better price on these things if they have regular volume from race teams. But where I am these things are a $1.5k saving compared to the brembos...
Now would anyone care to take my lightly used Brembos at cost so I can try out these new rotors for the benefit of other RL'ers?

+1. These things stop on a dime, lap after lap, I can attest to that. It's plenty hot (35+ deg centigrade ambient) and the brakes clearly hold up better than the weak link that is me
Do they last 50% longer than the new cup steels to justify the price delta? Guess it'll take many more track miles for me to find out!

From what I understand with the Brembo when your rotor runs out of life you keep the hat and just replace the outer metal rotor that contacts the brake pad and this is not as much $ per replacement. This ultimately cuts down the cost, plus you get more life out of the slotted vs rotor situation. Win - Win, I am hoping!

Now I don't know who has the experience of replacing the rotors on these things which are themselves replacements for OEM rotors That person will definitely be much more of a track ape than I am!!

Oh, that sounds much better than my description of "the part that touches the brake pad" Rox, you Rock!!!
Good info. That'll give me time to scrape up that $4K needed, LOL

I run RS29 pads and these full time -- 90% track, 10% street...
There is a reason I bought them again this time around -- I like them, they last... but you have to pay to play.
At the time Giro Disc did not have a 380mm front available and they were working on it... I am not sure of their current status.
Stop Tech had an option but I did not really pursue it for some reason...
Having had these Brembos before and was happy with them... I just went the same road again... I have not had either set long enough to require replacement of the rings... which will be expensive but I have 5 track days on them and 3 in a row coming up... they look fine. I think I had 10 days or so on my 996-3 ones before I sold the car and the new owner is going strong on them still... (RLer 007DT)
I can reccomend them whole heartedly as long as you realize that they are not cheap... they cost more than Giros, Stop Techs, Cup, ATE, Cayenne rotors, and whatever else people are using... they are basically the most expensive direct bolt on but I believe they will go the distance.
Performance -- really what is better besides GTR kit etc? quite simply, the only reason I will not claim these are the best direct replacments is because I do not want to have a scientific debate on rennlist with an engineer about properties of various metals under heat etc...but...
In my mind, they are the best.
Buy them... you will be happy.

Former Vendor
Brembo is out of front rotor rings for their 380mm kits until early October -
GiroDisc will be a few more weeks of testing on the 2010 GT3, then probably ready to go.
