Default 2011 GT3RS: Replacing steel brakes with PCCBs?

I got my '11 RS with steel brakes, but am thinking about "upgrading"(?) them to PCCBs for the street (too much noise and dusting from the steels, regardless of which pads I use). Anybody know if I can just swap rotors and pads from the PCCB setup? Disk diameters are the same, not sure about thickness. And if so, is there anyone who's removed their PCCBs looking to sell them? Thanks!

You need to change out to yellow calipers too. Apparently the mounting points are different (at least that is what I was told).

Carbotech has ceramic pads (Bobcat) for steel rotors which they claim emits 90% less dust. The only problem is they don't have stencil for the 997.2 RS oem pads yet...and are looking for an owner who is willing to send them the oem pads for a few days.

Thanks....I've been assuming the calipers are the same. If they need to be swapped, then I definitely won't bother pursuing the upgrade.

I've got a set of OEM pads that I can ship to Carbotech if that would help people out. Anybody got contact info?

EDIT: I talked to Carbotech and am shipping them out the stock pads today.

PM me your email address. I'll hook you up with the folks at Carbotech.

Thanks, I've already talked to them and shipped the pads out. So hopefully we'll know something next week!

I would call the switch to PCCB a downgrade. Suggest you search and find the many threads about people who bought cars with PCCB who are switching to conventional rotors - especially those who track the cars.

I agree it's a downgrade (which is why I put "upgrade" in quotes in my original email ). For track use steels are the way to go. For street use, ceramics have the benefit of being quieter and dusting less. I'm only looking at them for street use.

I do. But I have a tough time hearing the stereo, and when I put a 10000W sound system in it I fried the electrical system. So now I'm driving the RS on the street in the meantime until I get the other car fixed.

How have you been mooty??

I don't want to turn this into a steel vs. PCCB debate, but I had PCCBs on my 997GT3 that I tracked. The rotors began to show signs of wear after probably 5 or 6 days of heavy track use (at a track that has a lot of heavy braking, and I don't abuse the brakes). At that point I switched to steels for the track on that car. Much cheaper to replace, and IMO much better pedal feel and much better ability to modulate brake pressure. I put the PCCBs back on when I traded the car. The new RS is primarily a street car, and for that kind of use I prefer the PCCBs strictly because they don't dust and they're quiet.

my 2010 RS has steel brakes and does street driving. wheels gets dirty and taking them off with the 48" wrench is a bitch.... see my excuse to upgrade to 2014RS.

Good to hear. Is the race car ready to go?

Glad to see you're already preparing for the 14

Cayman is gone. I didn't have time to do the Cayman Interseries, and so it made sense to sell that car (traded it on the RS, actually ). Still got the GT3R and Spec Miata for racing, so I can't complain.

well what does that mean?
i tested it before my mechanic was done with it 3 weeks ago.

today we just finsished fire system and cool suit into it. need LSD, short gears, turbo, nitrous, big loud exhaust.. the list seems to get longer and longer...... i will test drive it again when i race in in two weeks (so, leigh2, if i bump you, it's b/c my brakes are not working). you know, driving is golfing and making love.. hitting ***** in the range and working it in the bathroom is boring. why practice. just do it.
