Can anyone tell me the usual wait time to production once the VIN has been assigned ?
Its completed if you have an assigned VIN. Next step wait for the ship name and track it across the Atlantic on Marine Traffic, and Intercity to ship it to the dealer door. Did you get it in orange?

That's interesting, I picked up my new 2011 GT3 in July, it landed in Canada the first week of July 2010.

Having a VIN does not mean completed...your dealer can tell what stage of production by following the codes as he will be able to track it now....Once complete it will take 3-4 weeks till you have it .....Good luck

God in heaven, that's stunning. The blue and the black wheels are very nice together.
With the decals it would look pretty sweet as well.

Well, you won't lose that one in the parking lot.

Is that a computer rendering or an actual car?

It has black exhaust tips -- or so it seems.

And does decal delete not also delete the checkers? (That's why I assume it's just a mock-up.)

CGT,

Last year, I ran across this photo on some site (maybe this site?) and I think that it was a mock-up BUT it was convincing enough that I was hooked.

I've always been a huge fan of Porsches vast selection of "Blues" over the decades ...... 117 choices I'm told !

I was torn between;

Bali Blue (one of my '65 colors) slightly dark for this application
Oxford-Dalmation Blue (my '73RS #1583) too close to the stock '10 color
Mexico Blue ( Too third world sounding and too controversial topic at the moment)
Bahama Blue (very close to Riviera)
Riviera

I'm told that it will be the only Riv-Blue RS in the U.S.A but who knows.

I know that there is a '10 GT3 in Riviera because the owner posted some photos on RL.

I would have never ordered it in smurf blue and black, but it looks absolutely breath taking!!

My compliments. It might even be better naked without decals. I love it.

Your Dad won't let me put any miles on it until after the 2011 Parade.

Then, I think that I'll be allowed to drive it .

I'm impressed by the level of thought you've put into the meaning of choice. I think that's far more important that some introspective thumb-up-the-poop-shoot debate over the nuanced, ethereal, ineffable lightness of being that some interior decorators would have us ponder over choosing one or the other. I've tried the "aesthete" approach to new cars, but it doesn't do anything for me. I have a gorgeous Meteor Gray Metallic with Natural Cocoa Full Leather and another $5K in leathery goodness in a C4S Cab, but it's not why I enjoy the car ... it has nearly 400hp, it has AWD and it has PDK ... that's why I enjoy it. I tried, but it's just not for me. Probably my shortcoming in the grand scheme of things not to appreciate the finer qualities.

Now this particular RS you're building; that is something I can appreciate! Unlike my humble white/red one (easily lost in any parking lot around here ... the neighbors have one just to carry bales of hay to their quarter horses ... : ) Much as I prefer white, especially when silver was "the" color ... now white has become the color. What's a contrarian to do?! : ) Polar Silver Metallic? Too blue?

Well, congratulations on the car. If you're anywhere near Silicon Valley, we can get the Riviera and Mexico cars here for another "Blue Horseshoe loves Anacott Steel" gathering.

CGT,

It is ironic that you seem to second guess your White/Red combo. Of all '10-'11 RS standard colors, White/Red was my only choice and I almost chose that route as I was too anxious (briefly) to wait for my PTS.

When purchasing my '07 & '08 RS, I almost ordered White/Red PTS but refused to pay thousands extra for friggin refrigerator white ! ! !

My affection and reasoning for White was the fact that in past decades (late 60s >) 'White' has usually been the factory race color (silver in the 50s & early 60s) and most '73-'74 RSR were white and I think that the "07,'08,'10,'11 RS is every bit the "new" icon that the '73 RS,RSR has been and therefore white/red is a very fitting tribute to Porsches racing heritage.

Great choice with Riviera.

Jellybean colors are the way to go.
