I just looked up the cages on Carnewal, they list both the 1 tab 2 tab/1 bar 2 bar front and rear section. Omfg- the conversion pricing on the 2 bar f/r combo is $US5599 plus shipping
That is a chunk of change in anyone's world.
Wurlie- do you know if the ROW Clusport cage package still makes use of OE side curtain and thorax airbags? Or are they removed?
TCS, any qualms about street driving (no helmet) with that front section installed? You installed some foam, right? I know this has been covered before but always interesting to rehash.

About the "foam" I like this thread.

In most jurisdictions a full cage is illegal on the street.

A full cage in a street car maybe illegal in certain states or provinces. One would really have to study the highway traffic act to find a violation that can be related to a full cage to prove it. Nothing says a full safety cage is illegal that im sure, however something might point towards obstruction etc.....
my car has passed both federal and provincial inspection with full cage, therefore the local establishment can pound sand if they have a problem with it.

grussel's cage from 911 design was right around 5 figures, gorgeous indeed. leigh2's cage is most likely 6-8000 as well.

Good morning all!
tcs - no idea who replaced Matter, sorry Semcon is the manufacturer now.
savy - I am not sure about airbags. However, I believe that the front part of the cage is made to go with the fixed bucket seat (Carrera GT).
I have seen many GT3s and RSs from Germany, with licence plates, with full cages on track days. Full legality is unclear, some people say you can do it, some say you can't.
I would (and will) go with OEM for sure, carnewal is a very good source.
Best,
w

My Schroth harness attach to the GT2 seats therefore im happy with the install.
The crotch belt however is anchored to the floor not only for safety but because i also swap out GT2 seats for 997 OMP CUP seats for competition use.
I dont think the CUP seats have a location for crotch belt thus floor is only option.

The European market GT3s have two pre-drilled and threaded holes for the supplied Schroth harness to attach crotch belt. Also two holes are threaded on the transmission tunnel and body side for the hip belts, so there is no connection to the seat.

Tcs I solved the mystery because I hate it when im wrong so:
after Matter, as I knew until yesterday IVM made the cages for Porsche and apparently still is, only that Semcon bought them! So I was right and I can sleep tonight.
