Default "Semcon" / Clubsport GT3RS Roll Bar/Cage Info- Help Please

What is the deal on the Semcon branded roll bar/cage used in the .2 GT3RS used in the 24hr Nurburgring race? Can it be bought somehow in US? How?

Is it not the same "Clubsport" cage option that has been around for years?

Anybody know if curtain and thorax airbags still function (properly) with this installation? ROW Clubsport optioned owners, does your car still have thorax/side curtain airbags?

Anybody done the install? Had to install the plates? Comments please? Where is the OE Clubsport package outboard lap belt mounted? Can you take a pic?

I know Mikymu is also doing a similar info discovery. TIA for any info

it is the factory clubsport cage.
Semcon installed the upper door bar which is not factory.

thus, this cage is slightly modified.

To install this cage you will need the factory plates and studs and weld them to your floor and cut your carpets.

i have this same cage in my 997.1

As to the seat and door air bags....... well, i will let you know when it happens

the upper door bar (there are two "door" bars on each side of the cage pictured above.)

the factory cage only has the lower bar.
The bar pictured above has been modified with the second upper door bar to meet or exceed the rules necessary to run the Ring' 24 hour.

Ah- you guys are awesome! Thanks and sorry for any pain caused by redundancy. redundancy.

The Clubsport rear section has only one tab welded on to mount the horizontal door intrusion bars I think TCS is referring to. The photo example has a second tab and two bars there.

Where is the OE Clubsport package outboard lap belt mounted?

This is a misunderstanding. For some time now the oem has 2 bars.
Semcon was wrongly mentioned in german sport auto magazine as supplier hence the mix up.
Cage is oem as you see it minus the stickers. Older 997 gt3 cage had one bar.
and older 996 cage no bars.

thx john.

i assumed Semcon installed the second door bar as i have never seen a 997 factory front cage with two door bars......
My guess is that Semcon probably installed the floor plates and painted/installed the cage thus the misconception of being the cage "builder".

my 997.1 has only one bar.

I would love to have the second bar and im glad to hear that all the 997.2's now have them.

Dont even mention it.

Maybe they did paint it that makes sense or they just putted the stickers there. Semcon is one of the big providers of porsche vw audi etc afterall.
And in my opinion one bar would be ok for street\track use if they had it positioned a little bit higher. I will attempt to do that in my 996 oem cage soon.

You are using the GT3 specific Schroth Profi's I would guess? Same as I have in Spyder.

But I have the floor mounted Sparco's in my RS. Was thinking of pulling the existing GMG RSR rear section and going with an OE full cage set-up. Curious where I would mount my outboard laps as they are currently attached to a tab on the GMG bar.

I believe Leif has an OE clubsport bar still for sale on this forum.

i suggest pulling the GMG bar and Sparcos and sell em as a combo.

when you install O.E bar go for another set of Schroth Profi.

I believe my Schroths are the GT3 specific. They are attached to the GT2 seats.

Semcon is the manufacturer of the OEM cage.
I have the sticker on my cage.
It is also one of the best Porsche suppliers.
And yes, the front in the 'ring RS is the OEM front.
Best, w
