I just put in the same set of Speakers as the OP.

Focal PS165 Front set up only. (15lbs) No Speakers in the rear also no Point based their location and location of engine.
JL Audio XD200/2 AMP (6lbs) Fits right in the front compartment tucked away.
iPod/iPhone Jack tied directly into antenna since these cars have no other way to add a Jack (Not FM Tuner).

Net Weight increase
+~15lbs max
Net Sound increase +1,000

I'm SHOCKED at how effing good this thing sounds!

No new holes, would never know it was there until you turn up the volume. All in w/ install $1,100. Definitely recommend.
there's wire at rear spk location

just get spk and hook them up

You don't need to drill a hole in the firewall for the power. There is a route.

I replaced the head unity with a Kenwood. Basically just so I could have decent nav and options for different audio/video inputs.

However, the sound quality is really lacking using the stock speakers and the amp inside the radio. Seriously considering adding a small 2 channel amp, replacement front speakers, and an amplified bazooka tube I can strap to the roll bar and take out with ease for track days.

I was thinking of swapping out the factory speakers for Focals also and adding this for some bass. It just weighs 9.5 lbs. and can be mounted anywhere behind the seats and it's easily removed.

That's interesting. I'd like to hear one. I had considered a powered bazooka tube, but this may be better.

Looks cool!
Could use a couple of those in the boat too... Too bad they are probably not water resistant.

I just purchased a GT3 a couple weeks ago and it already has the Focal 165KR2 in there with a small JBL amp. The tweeters do fit into the dash, my crossovers are located behind the carpet at the very back/bottom of the frunk. My amp is located under the carpet by the tools. The OP stated he has 5 1/4" rears, nice to know those fit as the factory speakers are 4" (100 mm). I don't have rears, but would like to add a second small amp (maybe under passenger seat) and some rear speakers since I don't have any. I don't like how all sound is to the front, having some rears will balance out the interior. Our cars are very noisy inside, but I still think there's a benefit to the stereo upgrade while doing slower city driving.

I just took out the exiting head unit and amp, and had a sony digital amp and pioneer head unit placed - maybe 3-4 extra pounds, but sounds absolutely fantastic. Get bluetooth, integration, iPod (yeah still hard to beat the 160gig storage space), navigation (that was a waste), etc.

With a new amp, the existing premium speakers sound quite good.
