Default Better Daily: RS.2 or GT2?

Daily drive is 15 miles of country roads. No traffic.

Thoughts?

LOL!!

Seriously I'd guess your R8 would be better than both as a DD hands down.

on paper I would say the GT2 but I would do the RS. Especially if the 15 miles are not stop and go.

The GT2 has turned out to be great daily driver (20,000mi and counting). It has a lot more effortless performance (due to the mega low end torque) that makes it more enjoyable in street conditions than a high revving engine car like the GT3. Also, when not giving it the beans, the cabin is relatively quiet so you can be on the phone (bluetooth through speakers) with little noise interference.

Disregard any comments about suspension setup being massively different. RS and 2 are the same chassis and behave exactly the same way. The engine is what makes then difference. The 2 is more challneging to drive at the limit due to the non linear nature of power output (and it is a lot faster)

both ride vertially the same. simular 997 suspension technology.

down low torque makes the GT2 a better street car for traffic. etc...

the .2 RS is a legendary porsche that is hard to pass up. even for a GT2.

the RS will give you big smiles on back roads at high rpm!

GT2 is softer, better for the roads.

I vote for GT2 as well.

Noisy inside RS cabin, bluetooth, radio all useless.

I prefer to use my club coupe daily.

Default Gt2 chassis & suspension

Re: "RS and 2 are the same chassis and behave exactly the same way." and "simular(sic) 997 suspension technology". Don't believe this is correct. The 997.1 gt2 in 2008 debuted an improved suspension & subtle tweaks to the chassis which served as a model for suspension/chassis changes incorporated into the MY'10 .2 gt3 & RS. These, in turn, gives the latest version of the gt3 a better ride - similar to the '08 gt2! That is my understanding from reading from those who tested & reviewed both models on THIS very forum. The gt2 also had Stability Control in addition to Traction Control, something the .1 gt3 didn't yet have. Regardless, the consensus among most here is that the '08 gt2 is less enjoyable than a gt3 (old or new) for the enthusiast in most situations for those reasons mentioned (turbo vs na, more muted sounds/exhaust, can be unpredictable in turns, needs a better driver to extract top performance, reputed 'widow maker', etc). However, right now there are many low mileage '08 gt2's for sale at very VERY low prices in the market. My question is "AT WHAT PRICE would a '08 gt2 become an interesting alternative to choosing a even lower priced (currently) used '07/'08 gt3 RS among our core enthusiast group? Never...or $125K or less?". Any thoughts? z356
