Anyone tried the goodyear eagle RS tire?
Linky: http://www.racegoodyear.com/tires/sports.html
looks similar to Hoosier R6...
What do you know?
I sponsor a local SCCA racer and he feels these are superior to the R6...

I know what you're after, PJ. Forget new rubber compounds and all that crap. You have a fancy-assed car that deserves a key feature being pumped by Goodyear:
"Premium sidewall styling"

ouch - busted!!!
they do say RS so...
kidding of course - they are roughly the same price as Hoosiers and I am a little skeptical because the R6 has been great...
we'll see... I need another set before august orp trip

If they were any fast, the SCCA Runoff Touring classes and the remaining DOT-R SCCA and NASA classes would be running them at National Championships.
So far the DOT-R terrain belongs to the A6, V710 and R6, that's it.
This Eagle RS has been out for over a year.

Hi, I've newly joined Rennlist but I know some inside information about this tire.
GY hasn't done much consumer level racing tire development lately because of production capacity but finally the racing tire team got some budget to develop new racing tires for SCCA or NASA racers. So this tire is completely new line.
Their target tire is of course Hoosier tire (A6 and R6) and have done some tire testing by GY test drivers and top SCCA racers.
I heard racing compound tires available on the market are already very competitive against R6 (of course it depends on car, size etc...). The autocross compound tires are still under development. They don't want to release tires unless they have some confidence.
The size lineup is kind of small yet but they are trying to launch more sizes in the future. One problem is they don't have advertisement budget so they rely on word-of-mouth to spread this tire.
I will try this tire soon on my Cayman S then maybe post a review after that.
Hope this info. helps.
