Default Reno-Fernley. Get Yer Track Crack

I have run two different days at RF, on the full (B) and partial (H) configs on the "new" track and it is GREAT. It would be worth your trip to come experience this amazing track. Lots of run off room and no walls to hit. Also no shade so bring an umbrella/awning/covered chair, etc. This is, after all, the high-desert.

A **** poor line in my C4S last year on the H config: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVmCratS0BY

I can't make June 26th, but should be there July 17th and 24th.

Dear Track Day Enthusiast,
We are very pleased to announce that RFR has re-opened. New Owners, New Management, New Attitude & New Pavement Through a series of Test-N-Tune dates, we invite you to come and experience the New Reno Fernley Raceway.

Test-N-Tune Dates

ALSO:

Reno Region SCCA members and friends,

Our June 5 Track Day at Reno-Fernley Raceway was so successful, we've added another date to our 2010 Track Events calendar! On Saturday, July 17th, Reno Region SCCA will host a Performance Driving eXperience (PDX) on the road course at Reno-Fernley Raceway. This will a unique event for us -- PDX-only, no Club Trials or Track Trials competition. It'll be a day of intensive instruction for all levels of track drivers -- beginners, intermediate and advanced. There's no better way to learn how to drive on a track at speed, or to hone existing skills, than with our PDX program. And, as always it's a great deal at just $175.

Registration for our July 17th PDX is now open on motorsportreg.com. We're still working on some aspects of the event, so watch for things like the day's schedule and the track configuration to be posted soon. But, you can be assured that, like all of our track events, there will be plenty of time on the track at speed.

There are also good reasons to consider coming to our July 17th PDX as a volunteer. You'll be a part of the action, and those who put in a full day earn credits towards their next year's SCCA membership as well as a $25 entry fee voucher good at an Reno Region Solo or Track Event. And if you have the necessary experience and are interested in joining Chief Instructor Dean Benz's corps of driving instructors, you can contact Dean directly at dean@benzfamily.us.

We'll see you at Reno-Fernley Raceway on July 17th!

Jim Gandy
Director of Track Events, Reno Region SCCA

sweet track ... shame it's so damn far away from the Bay Area ... also a little reminiscent of Buttonwillow ...

almost completely devoid of any landmarks to designate where the track ends and the dirt starts ...

tarmac optional?

hehe...BW I see folks taking to the dirt regularly. RF, not so much

If they run the full course which is four or so miles long, the back section is a technical masterpiece and a joy to drive. Serious fun and safe to explore the limits without a huge chance of balling up your car.

Any serious track junkie should run this course.

Did I mention the wild horses that roam free in the area? Adds to the charm in my opinion.

I suggest rooming the night before in Sparks/Reno and driving the 30 or so minutes to the track for those coming from out of town.

The Test and Tune offers 30 minutes on/30 off for the full day. (30 cars/30 bikes) That is a boatload of tasty track time. The bikes running here are crazy fast and fun to watch.

Hi Don,

In 5 gal pails as I recall. But :

Reno-Fernley
Sierra Car Care
800 Prater Way, Sparks, NV 89431 (on the way from Reno to the Fernley track).
Carries VP Racing 100 octane at the pump. They also have 93 octane which is difficult to find in CA and NV.

Intersection of Pyramid and Prater is right off I-80 and easy on/off.

Thanks for your efforts at Thunderhill this Sat/Sun to make things go smooth and fun. Huge kudos to Hooked on Driving which runs some of the most enjoyable track days I have ever attended. The HOD group is A+ #1 in my opinion.

Any one having the opportunity to run with HOD should do it. Go check them out at: http://www.hookedondriving.com/ (shameless plug for folks who deserve it)

Reno Fernley is a great track I was there last year with TEAM RACING and the PANTERA CLUB of CALIFORNIA for a 4 day event; I love the Hoot & Haller climb
