Another 2011 RS Available
Thought somebody might be interested. Stopped by my local Porsche dealer Legend Porsche/Audi located Amityville Long Island NY and low and behold was a gray/red 2011 RS. Stunning car in person. Sorry don't remember the sticker price but as of Sat 6/19/2010 the car was available.

Scott, does seem strange to me. Some people are still waiting patiently on their orders while some dealers do indeed have cars sitting unsold in the showrooms.

1. bad econ
2. many many dealers (many is NOT all) tell you they sold the allocation but they didn't. they simply load up the car (much much higher margin on options), and wait for some one to buy them. if i were to buy a car of this sort, i really would like to order my own.
3. and it's not just high options. if you put pccb full leather on it, i would say nicely done, but if you start to load up with fake CF, leather wrapped everything, sport chrono (which really does nothing) then, it really gets on my nerves.

I think the speculator dealers have shot themselves in their collective feet. They deluded themselves into thinking this RS would be as sought-after as the first RS. Before the '08 crash, I would have been equally optimistic. Now, they've gouged themselves. "He who lives by the sword."
The professional dealers secured customer orders. The speculators tried for this mindless repeat of their conventional approach to load up in-demand cars. I imagine this helps them with revenue targets and probably works fine on a $150K Cayenne or Panamera or when the '01 911 Turbo was the hot ticket, but on the RS, it's anathema -- and the flat-headed dealers trying to sell flat sixes without knowing its a flat market have been caught flat footed.

I'll probably get blasted for not searching this but...could it be that there are more 997.2 RSs available than there were .1s?
Obviously the economy is also a factor as are the other points but are there more being produced as well?

also, they can produce another 5000 RS, before the 2007, they would sell every unit they produced. econ uncertainty has a lot to do with it. probably the single most important factor.

Truthfully $140K would, should, be a low optioned .2RS! When dealers option them for high margin they usually break into the $160Ks from what I've seen; and most others here too!
