PCA At monticello today...who was there?
#16
Hey Steve,
First and foremost, thanks for showing me the line at Monticello!!! No doubt it was heaps of help getting me around there faster. It was a lot of fun following you in your spec Boxster that you no doubt can very compitently drive. I was very impressed how you use ALL of the track where needed and run a fantastic line. No doubt that I have much to learn from you on braking later at Monticello at certain turns!!!
It was fantastic to run with you and chat car talk. No doubt you are appreciative of the Porsche scene. I also appreciate the ride in your new GT3 RS and was VERY impressed with the grip that thing had!!!
I am also somewhat glad to hear that you are running through Hoosiers quickly at Monticello. I corded both of my front tires and from your comments am blaming this on the track. I wonder if anybody else can add input to their experience on this.
In any event, hope we connect soon and can run again. I am guessing when you get that RS going you will be pulling away from me quite a bit with skill levels you have developed! I'll shoot you an email to connect
Mike

FYI, a photo of the dude's 962. and a unsolicited photo of my 962.
its absolutely amazing the design differences between his car and mine; his is also an air/water car. i think theya re the same if not consecutive years. he's chassis 126 and im 110. but check out the rear wing, the exhaust outlets, etc.
just big tiem different. and, that dude can drive faaasssstttttt.....
they dont build them like that no mo'.

video impending.
live footage of aforementioned nutjobs slicing and dicing.
and me getting eaten as breakfast appetizer by the 962.
i need to carve an hour or two to shrink-0-matic the things. too sizely.

I was there as I'm a founding member. I did not drive my boxster cup built by
deman but was driving my red Radical SR3-RS. Was in the advanced and
instructor groups but had to cut my sessions short on the first day as I was
not getting enough point by's.....my engine ran hot so decided to quit the
session...

Monticello looks very nice. I see a lot of grass surrounding the track though. If the grass is wet it acts as ice for a runaway car.
What is the membership deal? annual fee? per track day fee?

Many days its really quiet and you have the entire 4miles to just a few cars, and other times there are some gorgeous machines there. THere are phenomenal drivers who are members, many grand am drivers who, hanging out in the pits, will bullcrap with you, share ideas and thoughts, hop in and take a few laps with you giving you ideas. for many, its a training track, a place to get ready for their more hard core racing.
you should call Rick Deman of Deman Motorsports. He's tied in with the track quite well and knows about some of the pricing. i think he's a sponsor herein as well.
but they basically have either a full membership with unlimited days, or , a partial membership (offers some 20,50days) at a far lower rate. one time fee, and then a small recurring annual dues.

vid of 962 from mmc
sorry this took a bit. frankly, i love the idea of video, love looking at it on my computer, but i have zero patience for whipping together and compiling and uploading. and i had some codec issues, i lamost threw the laptop out the window.
but i did get some stuff together. some vid of the 962 warming up on the track. later im scuffing some tires in the boxster S spec and he catches me FASSSSTTT on the downhill straight leading into a tight chicane, so as a 962 owner myself, i just eased up and gave him plenty of room. he didnt do anything risky in the chicane but punched it pretty good once clear of those curbing strips.
i think he was trapped at 190 or so on the back straight, a record for MMC.
great driver, great car.
later in the vid, some stuff from the pCA day. i think TeamDrugMoola man is in there. and some others.
again, my editing skills suc k mainly because i have no patience.
the vid is here http://911flatnose.smugmug.com
int he vid section.
