$550 for a GT2RS? I think that the price is just right! Keep it up there.

As confirmed by today’s BaT auction, 997 GT2 values continue their steady climb:

Something we have been discussing here recently….Bucket vs Sport Seats? You be the judge:

Well, the market has spoken. Very strong number for a beautiful car!

Yeah, honestly, betting on a 3 handle was kinda a lay-up; they were already there, but sometimes it’s easier to just let the facts speak for themselves.

This was a very clean car. I gave it a good look over in person, 1 owner, low miles, pristine DME. If any 2RS was going to get a number it was this one.

Wherever they are today, even though the 7-2rs ended up being more of a short-term experience for me than a “long term keeper”, the car has so much going for it, over the long haul, it’s always going to have a strong following and short supply. It will have its ups and downs but if it’s anyone’s “cup of tea”, I have no problem advising them to pay up and keep one for as long as they can. It’s one of those cars that wasn’t my thing, but I still love following them, looking at them, and talking to people that own one. I had one long enough to have a connection to what people love about them. So, I GET it. I realize a lot of people think they are overpriced relative to 7.1 gt2, but imo, the rs is a lot more than some CF and bigger inter coolers. Imo, it drives materially different than the 7.1-2. Arguing how much different it drives relative to the price differential is futile. The price difference is driven by a lot of factors and it is what it is.

It was the car in the 997 gt lineup I wanted to like the most. Other than realizing I’m an NA guy; so, the 3rs’s are more my thing, my ONLY complaint about the 2rs is the exposed CF hood. I just never could get used to it. I guess I’d choose black to help it go away. Or I didn’t mind it in red to embrace the contrast, but it always seemed “tacked on” from a design perspective. Outside of that I think the car is just out of this world, if I liked turbos . Mine was launch GT silver and crazy red interior. I didn’t spec it but I got a hell-of-a entry point on it and it was crazy clean. One of those cars I just really appreciated for what it was but wasn’t my thing.

There's something about the 2RS that is so magical and appealing. I am an NA guy but appreciate what this car is: special, rare, a beast, and beautiful at the same time. I'm not a collector, but if I was, I would absolutely add one of these to my collection, moreso than a 3RS (3.8 or 4.0). I think there is more upside with these but it seems word is getting out and that may be changing soon.

I have to think for sure this next BaT car will yield a 2 handle, the question is by how much? Anyone want to put out their best guess?

^ That looks like a nice GT2.
I would lose the advertising sticker on the side though.

I will guess $230k, but it's not an easy guess. This car seems to have a lot going for it though, and possibly deserves it!
