Default RS Arrived

My RS arrived. 30 minutes before I had t leave town

Here are 2 shots. More to come later. Quick comments after 10 mile drive:

1. Have to be on it for the shifter to work smooth. Going easy...the box is very rough.
2. Supple suspension
3. I expected the "thicker wheel" to be thicker
4. Love the radio delete...wish the doors did not have speaker covers
5. Love the sound!
6. Rear wings renders rear window useless...but it looks cool.
7. I ordered aluminum foot rest and it looks mostly plastic. (look close in photo)

Love the car!!

Only bummer....I popped the cherry. 4 miles into the ride a truck passed me and kicked up a stone. Now I have a small stone chip on the hood surrounded by what looks like a small smoke stain. I will order a touch up stick and fill the hole. The "explosion" part will not buff out. Oh well...serves me for not waiting until I get the bra installed! I'll take any suggestions.

Track next weekend.

Looks great. Feel your pain re: heading out of town the day it arrives. Had mine almost a month before I could really start logging miles. Still worth the wait. Run it hard.

i got radio delete too.
if rear view is blocked, get the taller upright like cup car and replace oem with that. i think then the wing will be almost at roof height.
alum dead pedal is plastic

hum... now WHY did a truck pass you? was it a GT3RSR type of truck

dont worry about it, just drive it.
i decided not to wrap my car when it gets here.
maybe i will get a bigger "explosion" when i am passed by a 18 wheel dump semi

btw, the car looks beautiful...

That stone chip can vanish in the hands of an expert paint repairer. You'll need to ask around for the best of local paint shops -- a detailer capable of paint correction will have the required Kung Fu.

By the way, get the paint protection film installer to do those CF door sill covers and the plastic cover around the hood/engine cover release switches -- it stops that whole area from looking scruffy and removes the need for driver and passengers to be too careful.

He said he wanted it parked in a stable -- they're awesome for being parked. : )

Congrats! Looks awsome

Have exacly the same experience with the shifter! Im up to 1000km with mine now and the gearchange is realy starting to loosen up. The feel is superb!!

I am very impressed with the steel brakes as well! Got them bedded in properly and the bite is fantastic! They also squeel and dust alot

I have had the Z8 since new in 2001. There was a big issue with the frame on those cars. At the last minute BMW decided to instal run flats on the US version and with the stiffer sidewall, the front frame would start to distort after hitting bumps! When I picked up the car new I felt that the chasis was not rigid enough. I told my wife, who drives it 90% of the time, to be really easy with the car. The problem became widespread in 2006 and under pressure, BMW made a frame modification. We are part of the lucky group that had no damage prior to the install!

Beautiful car! Congrats..

Hopefully you'll be back from your travels soon!
Maybe you can get the bra installed while gone?

that's good to hear. Z8 is one of the best BMW made, in addition to the 508, 328 (the old old old 328), the big coupes and MAYBE the old m6 and m3's.

strange that the frame is noodly, it had one of the most solid sounding door closing, almost like the old 993's.

it's a keeper, a feminine shape next the the RS beast.
