I do 31 hot all around on kuhmos- works great for me. Cold temps I start with 25 and adjust from there. I use 245/40(square) and 305(square). Your 1st post is round version in 245/35 and 315. I do drive to/fro track on them provided it's not a rainy day. Drove to thill last weekend. Great tire- when it does slip it's catchable not the snap and spin kinda thing wo alert. No experience with hoo hoos yet though I have a set laying around but like the fact I can flip them and no deterioration in performance. I've done kuhmos and hoo hoos on my gti and I like the kuhmos better. For some reason hoo hoos are abit vague at the limit feedbackwise though it grips well- kuhmos I get more feedback at the limit. Regards. Mike

According to the tirerack website, the front 245/40R18 is squared and the rear 315/35R18 is rounded. Apparently, the round tires are really wide for their size. I may give NJ's sizes a try which lowers the CG and gears the car up a bit or I may stick to stock-diameter sizes and risk some rub in the rear.

My car is used mostly for short weekend drives and track use, so I think the V710's can be left on. I'll have to be careful about punctures and ANY standing water. My RA1's are not even broken in yet, so it will be June before I need a new set of tires. I'll report back when I get the Kumhos on.

If u go 315 then u have to go 245/35 which is rounded too but me thinks rear too large and may wreak havoc on abs. Mike

It was for autox, but I think it was 32f/34r. I really should write these things down.

I have about 22HC on my R6 so I need to order some new tires. Last time I drove the R6 was last Sept. I'll give them a shot at my local track on May 12 and see how the lap times compare. Should be interesting.

315/35 messed up 996 GT3 ABS for a friend of mine. Too tall.

245/40/18 comes with square shoulder and 315/35/18 has round shoulder. According to tirerack, V710 tires with the squared shoulder profiles will typically require more negative camber than tires with the rounded shoulder profiles. This is perfect for GT3 since we tend to run more negative camber in the front. V710 will be my next set of tires possibly with OZ Alleggerita HLT in black as shown below

At least from experience running both round and square though round has a wider contact patch- the square has much better turn in then round just FYI but same grip levels- u can't beat that. Mike

Yes! More of a reason to keep square 245/40/18 front. I like to run 245/40 and 315/35 because I am in contract with the track to plow their field couple times a year. Higher profile tires will minimize damage to rims during my agricultural excursion

The 997 GT3 has different overall diameters than the 996 GT3 so we won't have ABS problems with the sizes I noted above. The only gotcha will be the rounded shoulder vs. square shoulder. At my low level of driving ability, I doubt I'd notice the difference!

The stock 19" tires are:
Front: 235/35R19 @ 25.5" diameter
Rear: 305/30R19 @ 26.3" diameter

The comparable 18" Kumhos with the same diameter:
Front: 245/40R18 @ 25.7" diameter
Rear: 315/35R18 @ 26.4" diameter

Difference:
Front: 0.2" diameter
Rear: 0.1" diameter

I'm doing several events now that have 6-7, 30-minute sessions in a day. At this rate with R6 or V710 I'd go broke in no time. I might need to put down the crack pipe and go back to NT-01.

Mike, order extra V710 and I'll test them for you to see how they work up north.
