Default Does the fuel consumption decrease after the break in miles for 2010 GT3

Guys,

I know the 2010 GT3 tank capacity is 67 Liters, but i got warning after 200 KM city drive that i just have 80 KM remaining!!!

But when adding fuel i just ad 40 Liters to full the tank!! is it mean i have 27 Liters remaining!!! then why warn me too early. the consumption is not more than 15L/100KM

in highways it can go 300KM before the warning come and the same amount i can add in the gas station 40 Liters.

i asked the dealer and they are stuped enough to say it has 87 liters capacity.

you can order 90 Liters only in Europe.

so the question is, if you fill your tank how long it will take till you see the warning. i mean regular drive city and highway.

I had the same thing on my first tank, it did not happen on the second time...maybe the computer is learning or something??
The Distance to Empty seems accurate.

This might not be your problem but sometimes the tank is not easy to re-fill completely (the pump automatically stops too soon). It can be very annoying knowing that it should take more fuel but the pump keeps stopping each time you try to "top-up".

If you don't substantially refill the tank, the distance remaining algorithm isn't very accurate. It's most accurate when the tank starts off completely full...

I dont know about the GT3 , But on my previous E39 M5 10 years ago , it consumed 1 litre of oil for evrey 500 kilometers in the break in period

after about 3 thousand kilometers i got better fuel consumption and oil consumption was less than before by alot...

Mine got a lot better with break-in. I was got below 12 mpg despite very easy and mostly highway driving on my first tank. Second tank in a similar pattern was 16 mpg. With 2700 miles on the clock, I get 14-16 in the city and 22-23 on the highway. I have noticed this car litereally drinks fuel at idle. I never smell fuel coming out the exhaust, but gas mileage drops significantly with extended idling.

Thanks,

But the fuel indicator indicates full tank.
May be the air pressure inside the tank is too much.
even i tried to fill the tank till i saw the fuel level but no change happened.

i may try to do things by calculations.

if the consumption is 15 L/ 100KM and the tank capacity is 67 Liters
then
67/15= 4.47

4.47*100= 447 KM

so 10 Liters reserved means we should calculate 57 L instead of 67

57/15=3.8
3.8*100= 380 KM now this should be city drive.

Highways, consumption is 11L/100KM
57/11=5.18
5.18*100=518 KM

so if the conumption indicator is accurate the distance will be as follows:

City Driving: 15L/100KM Distance to empty=380KM
Highway Driving: 11L/100KM Distance to empty= 518KM

of course all with a remaining 10 Liters in the tank to be safe.

i think i might do this excercise, what do you think guys!!!

I filled my tank for the 1st time last week and had a hell of a job to get any gas to go into the tank at all, which reminded me of a problem I had on my '04 where the tank was not venting so air pressure built up in it and tripped the gas pump repeatedly ... sigh a trip to the dealer *already*?

yeah that didnt help either ... I fear its the same problem as on my '04 where a vent was blocked so air could not escape as gas filled the tank

You can't easily do that in CA. There's a vapor recovery collar around the nozzle.

You can forcibly prevent the collar from contacting the filler spout but it's a PITA.

Yes, and the newest versions in SoCal stop while the tank still has at least another 3.5+ gallons to go.. every fill-up of our Porsches is now a long stop, as well as a pain.
