Delivery miles - 54 a little high?
Saw my RS at the dealer. Just off the truck today still wrapped in the usual delivery plastic, etc. but odometer had 54 miles on it! I don't recall ever buying a new Porsche or other car with more than 15 miles on the odometer. Any thoughts on how the miles got so high? Selective road testing or a problem? What have you been seeing on your 2010s?

there was a time when they used to test drive every car that came off the production line ... I dont think they do that anymore ...
difficult to explain where these miles came from if it just came off of the truck ... esp since the ECU leaves the factory "crippled" in 'delivery' mode until it gets to the dealer ... its a mystery ... maybe
it was a VERY big ship in a VERY big harbor?

I remember vaguely that some cars are selected from the line for a test of the product.
I wouldnt be too worried and if you are have them download the ECU codes

I would inquire just for the sake of corporate investigation to insure no funny business goes on... but i wouldnt be pissed or anything......
just inquire to keep any potential wrong doing at bay for now and the future.

Agree with the others that you need to inquire because that is a lot of miles.
The mileage would go higher than average if the car had an issue and had to be road tested (either indoor facility or on the street) to verify the corrections.

I did get a few miles on a car once when it apparently was moved to a storage yard awaiting a ship, then a storage yard in the US awaiting Customs. Still was 33 or so, from (vague) recollection. PDI is meant to add another 3 or 5.
And Larry's right that it's no big deal since the car is in a 5 mph limiter state until the PDI process.
But I would insist that the selling dealer make a special disclosure that the vehicle has received no transport damage or undergone any repairs whatsoever, no exceptions and no "to the best of our knowledge" nonsense. If they're happy to sell the car to the next guy, I think you have to call PCNA and have them investigate (as suggested above.)

I do not think those miles were driven after leaving the factory with the ECU in 'crippled' mode. Chances are those miles are product test factory miles. I would inquire with PCNA and I would have an ECU dump and logs analyzed.
