Tires for 997.2GT3 and RS

I have a friend that has a habit of putting used tires on his Cup.
Last year he blew a rear tire in a fast sweeper, and put the car in the wall...bent frame, susp., etc.$$$$$$
Beware of used tires! Cost you more in the end.

My understanding is the '10 RS is tuned for 19". With that said and the fact I drive to track, run, and drive home on the same tires I have zero desire to chance a rain shower on near slicks. Can't enjoy track days if you hydroplane into a tree or oncoming car and you die.
So- for me, the answer is plainly Pirelli N0 Corsa Systems. I have two full sets already on hand and ready to mount.
Rears 8/32" vs 6/32" for Cups. Front 10/32" vs 6/32" for Cups. So a few extra track days per tire for the Systems. Reviews here seem to be near unanimous that Systems are superior to Cups in damp/wet.
Now...if the Hankook Ventus V12's or Dunlop Direzza's come available with sizing in 325/30/19 (already available in front sizing) then I will likely switch in order to halve/third my tire budget. Corsa System prices will make even Porsche owners eyes water.
I want to keep life simple, drive well and fast, but not at the sacrifice of daily usability and wet weather safety. If you are a few tenths faster than me on your slicks I will happily applaud you and enjoy chasing you around the track

As these cars are getting ready for track, what are the tires you plan to use and what sizes.
i thought we can put down what we have in mind to share, and also if anyone posted "bad" ratio that would trigger ABS/TC we can all chime in...
my main tires are
Toyo R888 255/35/10 and 335/30/18
Hoosier R6 255/35/10 and 335/30/18
i didn't see anything else in 18" that would fit well. but then again, i only researched for an hour.

i know some always run used tires and had good experience with them.
i bought 8 sets of used tires over the years, some times, the are very new and great, but some are really USED..... and didn't last me 4-5 session....
wasn't worth the cost to mount/balance or my time to drive them to get mounted.
i try to run new tires as much as i can.
YMMV.

arrange a group buy for R6
i need 8 sets...
hum.... where do i store them... in my daughters room? i used to put her inside tire stacks (my idea of time out...) it worked well. i think i may end up answering to child services.... back to tires.

I've only had one extra set with the last car and sometimes it even cost me a session or 2. Only cord them wen I know the tire supplier is at the track to put new (used) ones on.
I pretty much figured with 24 days on track rotors last a year, pads 8 days, but i still don't know tires. Too track dependant and I have not run enough new sets down, but I use about 2 sets of rears for a set of fronts.
First set I'm trying are Hoosier R6 Front 255/35/18 Rear 335/30/18

Yes, but then you need a front size to match more of the stock size also. It's probably more important to keep the ratio of front to rear size than it is to match the stock diameter. When John at CCW builds his track wheel/tire package, he said he found the 345 interesting and might see if he can get it to work. However he was thinking more like 285F/335R

the 345 Hoosier won't fit, it is too wide, it should be called 355 (it is 14" wide). I made it fit in my 07RS, with a pair of tricks (rolling + less offset + some body trimming)

I'm running RA1s in 245 / 305 (18s of course). Diameters are something like 25.5 front and 26.3 rear, which pretty much mirror OEM. Shaved to 5/32 from 8. Not sure of stock availability, but I have 1 set on the car and 2 sets in reserve in the basement (half price at Frisby during the winter).

I can't drive, so I am always oversteering and always had to create understeer in GT3. Maybe RS will be different..

So far the rules state 18's but I wonder what Porsche would do if there was no tire diameter rule?

Intermediate
Street: stock 19’s Cup 2’s front 235/35R19, rear 305/30R19 – Decent stickiness with average wear. Good for impromptu track days (open slots during private test and tunes).
Track: E88s 18’s with R7 front 245/40Z18, rear 315/30Z18 – love the stickiness, wear pattern is good, wear life is less than average. I haven’t noticed sharp fall off, that I have read about others having.
Has anyone have history on both R6’s and R7’s? I know the molds are different and sizes too, but what about grip/compound/wear/# of heat cycles?
