Thanks a lot.
I guess that the quantity of 2011 cars coming will make it difficult for dealers to move the 2010 GT3 at a swift discount. They will need 2010 Cayman sales strategies.

that's a good question ... you could argue that '11 starts in June '10 and goes thru to around Apr/May 11 ...
But it all depends on what they plan to build, when in Zuffenhausen ... 280 cars for '11 suggests a rate of around 1 US RS per day per month of manufacture ... that seems like a LOT since they only produce around 150 cars per day off the line there ...

I was at my dealer today and we talked about a lot of fluff on the board. First, there are more RS allocations that have been given to dealers. My dealer had 5 initially and now has a total of 7 RS allocations. They already delivered their first RS and the second is scheduled to arrive next week. There was a lot of buz about the 3rd order that is coming next month. It was specced with every lightweight option: no AC, lightweight headlights, etc. I can't explain why they are getting 7 plus there is a possibility another 1 or 2 could just show up like the 2 addtional 10' GT3 that just showed up late last year. The other major dealer in town isn't getting anywhere near this many.
I asked about the May cars being 2011 versus 2010. So we looked at the orders scheduled for the factory. Guess what? All of their cars, including the 2 May builds, are 2010 models. In fact, we could not find a single 2011 order inline at the factory for a GT3 or RS. We did find some 2011 orders for a Turbo S and a Boxster Spyder. That was it for 2011. Bascially, dealer is saying that May builds being 2011 is BS. I was with him when he was running the search and hence tend to believe it is correct.
One last thing, I found out the Boxster Spyders are being held at port and not being allowed to be delivered. It seems that there is a safety issue with the new rear lid that has to be resolved before they will certify the cars for sale in the US. Hence, we may not see any Boxster Spyder sales for a while.
