MANTHEY 3.9
#16
I dont understand how a Sharkwerks 3.9 conversion or a manthey 3.9 is claiming to make so much power?
A 997 GT3 Cup Engine that need to be rebuilt ever 30 hours and runs at the limit, makes less power than a sharkwerks and Manthey 3.9.. this just does not sound like 1+1=2 to me.

well maybe the Cup Engine is underrated,
or maybe the way the Cup Engine powerband
is more suitable for the track,
and if the Sharkwerks or Manthey is tuned like a Cup Engine powerband, it might not last long too...
perhaps, Sharkwerks or Manthey can explain this question better...
still for now, I still think that if we compare a lap time on a Race Track, using the same Chasis, and the same transmission,
and just change the engine between Porsche Cup Engine, Sharkwerks and Manthey,
I "suspect", the combo that use the Cup Engine will have better lap times...

do a Direct Test between Sharkwerks 3.9 vs. Manthey 3.9.
On the Track, On the Dyno and On the Street.
Full test, including lap time, quarter mile,
and acceleration.

RS Tuning are developing 4.3 litre conversion for GT3 to go along with 4.0 and 4.1l, they are the only Porsche race engine builder with proper engine dyno facilities and are at the cutting edge of advancement on these engines for racing.
Manthey do not get factory help in engine development (not sure if that was what was being suggested ?)

As for the performance of a Manthey 3.9, here's an indication for you.
The chap in the 997RS is a professional racing driver of quite some repute, my car has the Manthey 3.9 conversion at just under 450bhp.
He's surprised how quick it is:

wow and your car is actually a 996 model !
I have a question, do the 450hp on your 996 GT3 with Manthey 3.9 measured at the Wheel,
or measured at the Crank ?
Because Sharkwerks 3.9, had 458hp at the wheel (502hp at the crank).

Can you listed the complete 3.9 Parts that included in the $30,000 price ?
and any warranty for this conversion ?
Will the ECU be tuned individually for each car,
or the ECU will simply be standard tuned by Manthey for all car ?
How about the exhaust ?
will this conversion price came with custom exhaust for 3.9 specific application with corresponding ECU tune?
What is the target Horsepower for this tune with US based fuel quality, and please specify whether the horsepower is at Rear Wheel Hp or at the Crank.

Mobonic,
The cup motor and RSRs all run various restrictors pursuant to IMSA or Rolex regs. Simply "uncorking" the RSR motor unleashes 550+ hp and it is likely good for 600 hp if you throw out the book. I ran at Sebring in the 12 hr. and the '10 cup cars were actually faster down the back straight than the RSRs were for the above reason (they're choking for air) and the cup car's reduced width and downforce makes it more slippery.

I was surprised they were not included in the description but there is the little "among others" listed at the beginning of each description...
I have no idea... I just copied what was on the site...

I click on the dynograph, and it zoom for better viewing
but their dynograph is still in german and can not be converted by google translator,
so I am a bit confuse with the dynograph.
I though the dynograph on that website was from a rear wheel dyno because it show km/h on it...
but other poster here said the dyno is from engine dyno ???

Translated by Google Translator from German to English
and if you click the link below,
it will show a clickable dynograph and you can zoom it after clicking...
if anybody here understand the note on the dynochart, please kindly translate it...

3.9L and 4.1l GT3 for: engine à la Manthey!
Porsche performance specialist, Manthey now expanded its sports programs at two capacity expansions of 3.9 or 4.1 liter Porsche 997 GT3 for the first series!
This Manthey shares in his engine in the successful racing acquired know-how with a street-legal Porsche owners!
In the case of the 3.9L kits Plus a result of 35 hp and 35 Nm out of the use of others Special pistons, liners, and Kat-elbow element. Rounding out the kit by Cup-Flywheel, special spark plugs, clutch and optimized Motronic.
Again, the yield is topped by the 4.1l-liter engine. He graduated in the past few weeks, all practice tests and numerous test runs. 65 more hp and an increase of 70 Nm are the proud result and evidence of the high technical level of engine à la Manthey.
"Professional and reputable engine, as we understand it and operate, is far more than so-called chip tuning," said Olaf Manthey. It is Manthey important to note that the entire development is a MM-engine kit from idea to realization in the house, including engineering and testing: "We buy any know how to act as a middleman or a consequence of kits from other companies." Are entered in MM-capacity enhancements specifically made for Manthey pistons, cylinder liners and piston rings. "Without own racing is not it, because the only way to letting the customer to his experience in the field of high performance," the four-and three-24h-6h-winning highlights from the Nurburgring. "Without Manthey-Racing would be missing for our professional understanding MANTHEY MOTORS right to exist."
