Default GT3 Sport exhaust problem after the rain

I drove my 2007 GT3 through several hours of torrential rains. Now the sport mode button will not open the exhaust baffles anymore. I suspect a mechanical problem with the activation system.

Has anyone had this problem who can suggest what cause to look for?

You can try disconnecting the plug(search forums for description) and what it does is it keeps the exhaust valves always open.

also if you look under the car ,you can see the cylindrical type device attached near both side the center exhaust. this is what opens and closes the exhaust.so you might be able to force it open,BUT dont take my advice on this i might be wrong and no where near technically sound as most of the michael schumachers here

x2. Just reach under and push/pull on the mechanical opener in the exhaust a couple times (where marked in the picture). Mine every now and then would stick and would have to do this.
First time it happened to me I took it to the dealer, and thats all they did.

I had a problem similiar to this and it turned out that a vacuum hose came loose under the intake! They had to do a smoke test to discover the problem. It was an easy fix once they discovered the location. wasn't caused by the rain, just came undone.

You need vacuum to close the valves and put the engine into normal mode.
When you select sport mode, you cut the vacuum to the vacuum actuators and the valves should open automatically. So if a vacuum hose came loose, the valve should put the exhaust into the sport mode due to spring tension in the actuator

i had one side stick closed and one side open. if that didn't sound funny. as noted above, the "flappers" can stick and can be hand manipulated to free them. i just unplugged the vacuum tubes, plugged them and safety wired them out of the way as i love the sound with them open all the time.

Thanks everyone for all your good suggestions. I have tried disconnecting the vacuum and the wires, then moving the mechanical openers by hand, nothing works. This morning I got an intermittent TC failure and PASM failure, so there is a gremlin in there somewhere.

It is time for a visit to the dealer. I will report back when I find out what the problem is.

I thought I read that driving in rain voids the warranty for any part or system that might get wet.
