I wonder if those stock steel brakes will last for 24 hours under Walter Rohrl?

of course not. Perhaps that is why they banned carbon fiber rotors.

agree 100%. i do run a BONE stock 997.1 GT3, and at one and only one downhill hard braking corner with some bumps, i've had my ABS go scary apesh*t on me. really wakes you up!!!

Yeah, I had consistent and perpetual problems in two specific corners (TWS CW T3, H2R CW T5) when I was running my PS2 Cups. Since switching to R6 tires I haven't had problems in either place.

You're right -- it can be really unnerving if you aren't expecting it.

Too much red? Is it even the same red as stock?

lovely find. It makes me remember my RS on BBS monobloc Magnesium wheels and the same Michelin Blue Cups, my RS saved over 100 lbs on unsprung weight between the PCCB, the michelin slicks, and the magnesium wheels.

it looks like they will not be using the CUP center lock system. The BBS wheels they are using however look fantastic and i bet alot of 997.2 owners will be snatching them up as soon as they are available!

i wanna 997.2!

i don't see it mentioned earlier in the thread...are these bbs cl's 18 or 19's? also, any idea as to the uprated spring rates vs stock spring rates they will be using with the stock shocks? as stated earlier, won't this cause a problem with the stock car's ABS fuctioning?

The BBS CL wheels are 18". The Michelin Blue Cups are only made in 18".

The article already mentions the Bosch team reprogramming the ABS for this race.

I doubt they would ever publish the spring rates being used, but we have plenty of expert shops available to determine and recommend proper spring rates according to tires/tracks/car/driver/shocks.

me too. but if you hear any new news. let me know. those wheels look great.

u got pm
No PM?

BTW looking at the car right side you only see checkered. I hate checkered, looking at it from the left shows decals front and rears also. I like none. Even if I liked the left side better, I would have to add to the left side to mke it OCD correct.

Nothing on 18" CL's yet, except for forza. I am sure my car will satisfy my track needs bone stock, maybe the dif once shot, but I will leave the rest alone.

I know about PCCB ruling so they should go with stock iron. I disagree on the street tires, plenty predictable and so what if they have to come in to change them more often.

Anyway, when you make that many changes I see no point in doing this.

I have a few buddies running slicks, no problem with ABS....
I don't plan on running them, but I'd like to find out more. I have seen a 996 GT3 have issues with slicks where the ABS quit and the car locked up all 4 and hit the wall.... I was behind the car....[/QUOTE]

I tried cup michilin slicks on my 996 GT3 and the problem was two fold. The ABS said brake falure and it didn't like the bigger rear tire at all. The brake bias is way off because the large diameter rear gets additional torque against the rotor. The +s of the set up are it feels like you are driving down hill, and they stick great in corners. I never tracked it like this because of the breaking problems were very bad. High speed test drive only. Now I use front slicks from a 2000 - 2002 Gt3 RS race car on the rear. Problems with the bias and abs are solved. woohoo hold on Martha!!

Anyone check to see if there's a site that will allow you to watch the race live?
