I'd like to paint the lower part of the side rear view mirrors, but I can't find an article describing how to remove it. There are threads covering this topic, but the links they refer to don't work....
Anyone has a (working) link or some tips how to dismantle the mirror?

Here's how I got my side mirror on my 07 GT3 to stop from falling off - removing it is probably the same procedure (in reverse)...
UPDATE: Got the answer from RennSport. Here it is if you have a similar problem:
Simply remove the interior mirror triangles ( where your controls are ) and there will be 3 torques screws securing the mirror to the car. Its the same on both sides.
Note: When you pop off the interior trim pieces, pop them off from the bottom and slide them up. There is a little clip that slides into the top portion of the trim piece that you will break off if you just pull it outwards. Slide it up towards the roof line.
(Note: the trim piece is held tight against the door - it took a bit of gentle prying to pop out the bottom half).
