NJ-GT- I wish u were manning the ship with PAG in design/engineering because most everyone here in RL would be a happy camper : ) with the final product. Mike

If the 918 is the new Boxster, that's fine, but no way it should substitute the Carrera GT.
- Hybrid power plants run out of battery rather quickly, at full throttle the batteries will drain in minutes. I wonder what that car would turn at the Nurburgring in the 2nd lap.
- The 3.4 Spyder V8 is a race engine, good for a LMP2 car, but not good for a street car with 2.5 times the weight. 500 Hp and low torque.
- The 2010 GT3 RS has been unofficially clocked at 7:33 around the Nurburgring , and the Viper ACR, ZR1 already run in the low 7:20s. The 997.2 GT2 RS most likely will drop the 7:30 mark as well. The Carrera GT has already lapped in 7:28 by two independent drivers (Marc Basseng and Walter Rohrl) on PS2 tires. So, a time under 7:30 for the 918 is not a great benchmark, and it won't be 2-3 years from now.
I would rather get the Carrera GT.

The small V8 is actually a perfect option for a hybrid with the electric engines providing tourque when needed. Regarding the batteries I don´t think it will be a problem because the electric engines probably won´t be used that much on track.
The time is only a goal, it could very well be lapping low 7.20´s when finished.
All in all this is a very promising project which shows the future of supercars, they could probably do a version with only combustion engine and shave 150kg.

Really love the car...it came out superb!!! Porsche is knocking every brand down at Geneva.
Love the sightly green color of the car...Porsche is really thinking green.
Just have some doubts about the fuel consumption...3 litres/100km seem to me a little bit optimistic!!!

If anything like the GT3 R hybrid, which it seems to be, the electric hybrid system completely charges itself every 8 seconds of braking, thus providing an additional 218 HP every time in addition to the 500 HP from the engine....

Bad news on pricing:
“There is no doubt that the 918 Spyder will have to cost more than the Carrera GT,” acknowledges Dürheimer, easing into the subject. “How much more? It depends on the volume. If we settled for the aforementioned fifty units, we could build the engines in Weissach, get away with only three prototypes, and assemble the customer cars practically by hand.” But you can tell that this is not the favored game plan. You can sense that bettering the previous supercar is what the next supercar should be all about.
“Let me put it this way: if customer feedback is positive and we end up over time with about 1000 firm orders, I would be very pleased.”

the cars we saw were the 2010 RS, the ducktail frankencar, and new cup car. and one other 911 based situation, which I won't comment on yet... we did not see CF tubs or hybrid stuff, but there were some places that were closed off.

918 Spyder vs 911 GT2 RS...
The 911 GT2 RS is scheduled for production during MY2011, so it will be interesting to see how the performance compares to the 918 Spyder...
