I'm circling the bait on this one. Can the remote harness come pre-installed? Is the remote harness weather proof? Any idea how to route the remote harness on a 993? I saw a 997 route it near the wipers with a little plastic panel as a cover. This bat would work well for me with its LVC because I can't leave a bat maintainer on my bat and I leave my car unused for 1 month at a time. I'm a bit of a weightweenie too. Alternatives to the Rennline mount for the 993 - it looks bulky?

You'd still need to drill holes to mount it to, but it's extremely light and should pass tech (I have this exact one).

Race Car
It's been 2 years since I bought the vph-750 .... It spent the first 6 in my road/track 996 RS with full electronic load etc... And then 6 mos in my 01 cup ... And then again made the move to my 05 cup. It gets exercised 1-2 times a month on average and has given absolutely 0 problems. I have never needed to jump it or trickle etc.. I just arrive, press the button - secret location! - and drive ... I don't let the battery get cold though as car is stored inside and insulated well which may help.
Just posting as a thank you to Tony and partially to maintain the idea that quality often costs more but delivers/saves in various ways down the road. Now my OEM battery lasted 3 years before this ... Only time will tell how much longer the VPH will be around... But I'm quite confident based on the experience so far
And thanks Mike for the intro and steller DIY as ever

Adding to HiWind's comments, my experience with the VPH-700 is just as good. Never had a problem with it and it's been nearly two years now. On/off button and auto voltage protection is brilliant. That the drained unit goes into self preservation mode and still allows you to start the car at the touch of a button has saved me more than a couple times.
Thanks Tony for a very well made product. RL needs more vendors like you.

its a terrific battery. I only struggle with it when I send the car for setup/service and the shop refuses to understand to either plug the car into a charger or kill the battery entirely. so, the unit winds up getting drained and I wind up having to slowly recharge it by driving for several days.

I'm starting to think every car I have needs one (ok, not counting the A3 TDI). I've never had so little problems with a battery.
Actually, I've found that to be an unexpected plus.
It's funny to watch them scramble and freak out (after service took too long, and they didn't pay enough attention to you, in the first place), thinking that they'd destroyed a >$1000 battery.

Any recent updates since the last post over 1 year ago? Seems like a good high-tech product. I am a little surprised I don't hear more people using this product.

I am seconding the last posts. I have the VP S40 and cable (fits but battery cover slightly proud with no rubbing)- love it. Love voltage circuit is awesome as a travel a bit so car gets left. Its my DD and gets used for 2.5 yrs.
Deserves praise. This battery will follow me
VPR-S40 Our most powerful VPR battery (along with VPR-P9). 9.25 pounds

Agree the circuitry to cut off automatically and save a dead battery is great
Just wondering who's had one for more than 4 years now? Ie vph750 or 900?

not a voltphreaks but I've had a lesser quality lithium battery for 3.5 years now and it still functions like new. I wish it had some of the VP features, my trickle charger died at one point causing everything to go flat because it doesn't have an automatic shutoff feature.

When the voltpheaks disconnects as it goes into self preservation mode, upon reconnecting it with the button so you can start your car, do you have to reset the window limit switches, radio stations, throttle position sensor, etc.? Basically all the stuff the the factory maintenance manual has you do after reconnecting the battery...
