10' gt3 ticking noise from wheels...help!
#16
I am at Mid Ohio this weekend. Running Forgeline wheels. Have had a similar noise almost like a wheel beaing when heavily loaded in a turn. One side of the car has had nuts move when retourquing so they were loosening or something but I don't see how. Everything else looks good. After retorquing the center lock the noise goes away. We suspect torque wrench calibration too low. Trying 10% higher setting tomorrow. Be glad to update later.

I had this problem a couple weeks ago after having a new set of Hoosier R6's mounted on my Fikse Profil 13 wheels. The ticking sound was loud enough that I got meat balled by the corner workers. Eurosport in Joliet, IL diagnosed and repaired the problem. The wheel weights were just a little too thick and were hitting something (maybe the brake caliper?). They replaced the wheel weights with thinner ones and the problem was solved.

I have also ticking noise front left when cornering hard to right corner. Right front is ok.
And have also ticking noise rear but it only gets worse when driving hard and everything gets hotter.
Car is at the dealer now.

So what's up with the ticking noise ?
I have it when loading the car in a left hand turn, and also, a right turn in like a circle.
Hard to believe that my problem is with wheel weights, because I also heard the problem on my extra set of OEM wheels with A6's on them.
When taking off the wheel....where are these studs that need to be tightned ?
Anyone have a picture.
I have a 2010 GT3.
Thanks,
David Lehman

Maybe what they say about the brakes. That it's the rotor in the caliper. This kinda makes some sense as I have this on both sides of my car, but slightly more on the side with .2 more negitive camber. Possibly this doesn't happen as much with cars closer to the stock alignment, as the rotor doesn't move in the caliper as much, or at least at not of as severe of an angle.
Going to the dealer Tuesday..........they will probably think I am crazy......

I do have it on both sides, and you probably do also.
Run the car around a cul-de-sac in one direction kinda quick, and then the other direction.
You might just hear the noise both ways.
Hopefully this noise won't drive me insane........(wait, I already am pretty nuts)

no traction off it does it also.
I only have it left side and i am still on stock allignment.
On wet track of slippery surface i don t hear it. Only on dry track when lots of load comming on the left side.

This is very interesting. I had a corner worker at an AutoX mention that I had a clicking sound when cornering. I didn't hear it, don't now, but I can't hear worth Sh$& anyway. At another event I had my grandson on board and he didn't comment on any noise. Hopefuly thas a good sign. I have tourged my wheeels to the n32 442 lb ft spec noe too. Maybe that helped.

It's for sure not the torque of the center lock wheels.
I torque those babies down to like 440 lbs with a torque wrench the size of King Kong's ****.
Maybe it's medium speed turns, like going on a Green Arrow and making a left cornering on street like 30 mph.
It's more noticeable making a left turn, but can hear it both ways when going around a tight cul-de-sac kinda hard......so I can hear the noise.
If windows were up.....probably couldn't really hear it.
Beats the crap outta me .....
