Akrapovic GT3 Evolution Race System

Akrapovic GT3 Evolution Race System
Just got this in yesterday from Akrapovič. It is a unique Full Titanium Race (only) exhaust system for the GT3/GT3RS. It is not a standard Akrapovič offering.
If you don’t know Akrapovič, their titanium and carbon motorcycle exhaust systems are simply the ultimate standard against which all other aftermarket motorcycle systems are compared. Bikes running Akrapovič exhausts won 13 world titles in 2009 alone. There simply is no better alternative. Starting about four years ago, Akrapovič started work in automotive applications and became Porsche’s OEM supplier when Porsche chose to put a titanium muffler on the Gen 1 997 GT2. Akrapovič now has a growing line of aftermarket systems for performance cars, and we are an authorized US dealer.
In terms of this unit - Akrapovič spent a lot of time optimizing the overall design for “race use” power, and no disrespect to great engine builders, but when looking at the power gain they achieved (both torque and Hp) it is clear that the Akrapovič system is one of, or likely, the most cost effective approach to increase power (e.g. use stock engine and Akrapovič exhaust). Truly big gains that even the factory thought were not possible. When combined with a race-prepared engine, the system provides a distinct competitive advantage.
This system was custom designed at our request as a “cat delete” version for ultimate performance, compliance with certain sanctioning body rules, and lightest possible weight, while also meeting tack and sanctioning body drive-by sound limits. So far, IT IS THE ONLY ONE WE KNOW OF IN THE COUNTRY. It is quite similar to the 13,990 Euro ($19,000 USD) system Akrapovič licensed exclusively to Manthey Racing as used on their RS for the past two 24h Nurburgring events that they won, but this system INCLUDES full titanium headers and eliminates the sport cats (which are required for German ADAC sanctioned events, but outlawed in US Grand Am). As you can see the quality is incredible, just look at the welds here for the collector.
Akrapovič are the only ones using a titanium alloy developed between TIMET, world’s largest titanium company, and Porsche specifically for high-temp auto exhaust applications. It is the alloy Porsche specified on the GT2 (As mentioned, Akrapovič being OEM manufacturer of that muffler on the 997 GT2 Gen1, before the factory chose a lower cost stainless option on the Gen2), as well as the new GT3 Factory Titanium Muffler option. This being the only titanium alloy that has met Porsche’s durability standards gives us good confidence to endorse it (we’ve witnessed cracks and failures of other aftermarket Ti systems).
Also differentiating Akrapovič from any other titanium exhaust manufacturer are their huge investments in superior technology. To enable them to choose application-specific optimized tubing diameters and wall thicknesses, Akrapovič built their own titanium tube manufacturing factory. They use proper continuous TIG welding technology, with proprietary weld conditioning that assures weld integrity. Using this mill they can optimize gas flow, weight and durability, as opposed to all others who must use some compromised commercially available “off the shelf” titanium tubing (where globally there is a very limited selection of diameters appropriate for automotive exhausts). Further, seeking the absolute lightest possible titanium exhaust flanges, in 2009 Akrapovič installed a state-of-the-art titanium casting foundry. They cast-in reinforcing webs to guarantee the exhaust gas seal, while minimizing weight. Akrapovič’s ,metallurgists have presented papers at international titanium industry conferences about their in-house alloy development programs specific to cast titanium alloys most suited to exhaust flanges. A full in-house metallurgical lab is at their manufacturing plant. Additionally, to guarantee exact fit, Akrapovič takes 3D digital scans of the underside of a vehicle with the stock exhaust removed and builds rigid manufacturing tooling off the digital file. This guarantees that the system always installs easily/properly to stock mounting points precluding clearance issues with heat shields or misaligned outlets. Compare that to typical aftermarket exhaust companies who borrow somebody’s used car and build their tooling off of the “take-off” annealed (e.g. “tweaked” to non-technical guys and gals) system. The competition is almost guaranteed to not fit (and our bloody knuckles are proof). We recently replaced a competing Ti aftermarket exhaust system on a customer’s street GT3 with an Akrapovič system after the “other” Ti system scorched and melted the car’s rear body work. The body damage alone cost the customer $2400.
The GT3 Evolution Race System with cats as offered by Akrapovič shows a weight savings of 57 pounds over the stock unit and adds 16.7 ft-lbs of torque at 4128 RPM, with more than a 12 ft-lb torque gain from 3600 RPM through 6300 RPM, and 16.5 HP gain at 4490 RPM. Being the first of this design, we don’t have hard numbers yet for this system, but without cats, even more power gains should be expected, and obviously, it’s considerably lighter!. The weight savings alone of this unit over stock will dramatically improve the GT3's handling and power to weight ratio.
Bodymotion is offering this complete system, non-cat converter, off-road use only for $10,500 plus shipping and installation. We also offer the street legal Akrapovic GT3 Evolution Race system and GT3 Evolution system. The Evolution Race system with cats is currently $10,064.20 USD with the current exchange rate. And the Evolution system which includes the side mufflers and is much quieter currently goes for $12,466.75 USD with the current exchange rate

Thanks for the support. We are really excited to be dealing with Akrapovic because the quality in these systems is so good.
Here are some photos of the Evolution system.
This is the non race system which maintains the extra mufflers for quieter operation and also includes valves for sport mode.
This is the system that is going for $12,466.75 USD
We have installed this system on a customers car which was featured in the Akrapovic booth at the PRI show this past December.

We are working on getting some video of the Evolution system. Its just a matter of arranging it with our customer who has the system on his car. We can assure you though that the Evolution system sounds incredible. It has a great throaty sound and is definitely one of the best we have ever heard. The system sounds good in the car as well as outside it. So please bear with us a bit, but we are sure you won't be disappointed.

Akrapovic's website states the exhaust is for 997.2 (dfi)
Performance
The Porsche 911 Carrera (997 DFI) is also tangibly better with regard to efficiency. A Porsche with the Akrapovic Slip-On Race exhaust system is noticeably more powerful between 3,000 and 6,500 rpm. It is therefore that much more pleasurable pushing it to its limits and making it roar with the distinctive GT3 sound. Its position to asphalt is also improved, because the Akrapovic Slip-On Race system offers an almost 10 kilogram* weight reduction in comparison to the stock system. This offers a better power to weight ratio when power is greatly increased. Our engineers were also able to extract additional power of 17 HP* and torque of 30.2 Nm*.
Slip-On Race system:
* titanium or stainless steel side mufflers
* titanium or stainless steel link pipes
* 4 titanium or carbon tail pipes
Hard facts:
* plus 17 HP (at 3820 rpm)*
* plus 30.2 Nm (at 3.650 rpm)*
* minus 9.84 kg*
Optional:
* Wireless kit for exhaust valves**
