997.2 RS Question...
#16
It all depends on what is the contrasting colors available....(red, gold) does not look well with the blues...of course you can always paint the mirrors, front, and wheels on a new RS...I did not want to do this.

Now that PTS has been confirmed as an option on the MY11 RS, I'm interested to hear opinions on your choice of colour for the new RS.
Personally, I was disappointed with the colour choice and decal design of the standard Mk2 7 RS; however, I appreciate that the car will be a sensational drive, whatever the colour!, and that taste in colour is a very personal thing.
That said, PTS now allows people to go wild, so, what colour would you choose?

I would not buy a 2011 GT3 RS in the colors offered by Porsche, for me a car has to be in the color I want, and Porsche screwed up big time the colors and graphics.
From the current RS line-up, if PTS were not offered, I would go with White, decals removed, and have a decal shop recreate the mk2 997 RS graphics in Riviera Blue (like the 996 GT3 RS), painting the wheels in Riviera Blue as well, and a second set of graphics in Black with Black wheels.
But given that PTS is offered right now, I would go either mk1 997 RS Orange (Pure Orange) or Riviera Blue. Both of them with Black wheels, carbon mirrors, black end plates for the rear spoiler. In this case I would photoshop the mk1 and mk2 graphics in Black and test them on both cars. Indeed, vinyl decals are so affordable that I would probably get them made in mk1 and mk2 versions in black.
I'm not a fan of Maritime, it has a shade of purple, and I'm not Barnie.
Contrary to what some people believe, PTS is a cheap option. On the right color, a PTS car has better resale value, especially given all the horrible colors offered by Porsche in the 997.2 GT3 RS. In the Ferrari world, a hot color (Rosso Corsa) is more valuable than an off color (Grigio), sometimes affecting the used car value by close to 10%. You can go bad with PTS as well, a Pink RS could have bad resale value.

I like the idea of PTS 997.1 Orange ...
if they do a MY 11' run of the GT3 I will probably PTS it either Orange or Riv blue
fingers crossed!

i like mexico blue with black accents.
do you think porsche can make a matte finish? check out this m3. color is frozen grey which is matte clear coat over their standard spacegrau color. this is a factory bmw individual color that is supposed to be an optional choice on all M cars for 2011 model year. i think this would look great with black, red, or orange accents on an RS…minus the fish lips..that would have to be in black.
(Basislack: Spacegrau met. A52 / matter 2K-Klarlack FF95-0550
+ Haerter SC29-0160, MV100:33 Gew., BASF)
