Why not keep the exhaust valve open
#16
i dont know what unplugging is technically but what it does is let the vavles stay open all the time especially below 3000rpm where the car sounds like poo with the vavles closed.

I've searched around on this one but haven't seen a definitive answer. Is there no performance hit for leaving it unplugged all the time? I'm trying to figure out if there's a need for the valves to close for backpressure or otherwise in the lower RPMs. Has anybody dyno'd after unplugging to compare?

The connector is on the passenger side of the engine compartment. There is only one connector to unplug. Squeeze the small metal spring loaded bar and pull down. Easy as that. Hope the pictures help.

Just ran it with the stock exhaust unplugged, and boy the droning is bad. With the windows up it will probably make you deaf and with the windows down i felt sorry for the other drivers. The sound below 3000rpm unplugged is way different than what you hear above it,it sound like a supra exhaust times 10 + drone.

For those that need to keep things "quiet" Mikymu has a nice write up on how/what

There is no droning with the SharkWerks bypass and the connector unplugged. If you can't live with the OEM exhaust and the drone, go with SharkWerks...you won't be disappointed!!
