Default Wide angle lens for track video

OK, by the title of this post you can tell I am just bored out of my skull! No new mods, no track event and rain forecast for the whole week. I might as well read Emily Dickinson's best poem collection ... NOT! lol

I was interested about the new GoPro HD camcorder when it first came out since it's cheap, light and provide wide angle recording until I saw the video -- all the waviness kill any interest. I will continue to use my heavy Sony camcorder but add a wide angle lens. The video quality with the wide angle lens is pretty good. I need to move the camcorder back some more and also anchor in such a way to minimize motion since the camcorder shake alot on the track. Sorry about this boring post ... blame the weather

I got them from IO Port racing:http://www.ioportracing.com/index.html

This is what I have on now. The problem I encounter is that I had to extend the arm all the way out to mount the camera sine I am using the diagonal section of the roll bar and it amplify the motion of the car

I just order this smaller mount. Will let you know if it's any better in about 2 weeks - my next event at Laguna Seca

That rubber buffer is a must for hard drive video cameras. I use remote mountable sensor for my bike. Anybody wanting to do video has to know hard drive camera can't handle G's and bumps with out buffering. I hope the rubber mount doesn't make your video wobble around.

Here's a link for the remote camera head I use. https://helmetcamera.com/

I use a very similar WA lens. The model I use on my Sony is a VGL-HG0737Y.

The biggest issue from using the WA lens is that it adds a lot of weight to the entire camera setup so your mount to the car has to be bomber. It looks like a nice setup with that rollbar. When I couple that lens along with a larger battery pack the rig starts to get big!

yes, my Sony camcorder with wide angle lens is getting mighty heavy. I just got the smaller camcorder mount. Agree on some form of buffer to minimize motion. Will see how it works out
