Default 2010 GT3 & Extreme Hot Weathers

Hi Racers,

I Like cars to travel over any other method.

I can't wait to get my ordered GT3 and listen to the exhaust during the trip.
Here in my country the minimum degree is around 0 C (32F) but just for 1 or 2 months and the Maximum is +50 Celsius (+122F) most of the year.

I am traveling over my 2001 BMW 740iL for 800 KM twice a month in very hot weather and once i reach my destination i dont stop till I go all around the city also during extreme hot weather (Almost 60C (140F)) without any problems. So the car was running for almost 20 Hours without shuting the engine down. dont foget this is V8 car, heavy and large and very hot weather. amazing car.

My 2010 GT3 must handle such behavior so what do you think Racers.
Can it go with these conditions without any problems!

Almeena, I don't think it will be an issue. I've driven my car flat-out on the track in 30C weather, lap after lap after lap with no issues. The oil temp does go up, but it stabilizes and doesn't move from there. I would imagine doing highway driving in 50C is less stressful than running to 8,000rpm for 30mins in 30C weather.

I have run mine hard ion the track in 110F weather at Buttonwillow with no problems. The water temp which was normally at 175F never got above 180F.

I drove mine on the track frequently in the 90*F days of texas in 08 and never had a problem on the way back to work in the afternoon with temps of 100 or more. tires won't last very long at those temps though!!!!

Regularly track my car in the hot South Texas heat without ever experiencing any issues.

Never an issue... even during hard 110+ degree days continuously on the dyno out in AZ on 91 octane etc... Runs like a champ. These cars don't suffer from heat issues unless of course you pop a coolant hose

Or you pick up debris that is caught on the radiator grills, possible if you go off track. This did happen to me, we run our track days at an old airport with a great deal of hay/grass on the track surface.

Drive without worry! But, as CJ Ichiban noted, you might want to put PS2 on it, instead of Sport Cups, as they will last a lot longer on hot asphalt.

Enjoy!

Yeah, 997 GT3 is virtually a non-issue with heat.

What about with the 3.9? Do you need to upgrade cooling to deal with those same high temp/high load situations?

Thanks!

Good question and we've got some trick coatings (we don't talk about too much) that help but so do the lighter parts... We monitored things closely in awful 110+ heat in AZ on the dyno and in the desert. The car also did fantastic at the track for a whole day with a pro driver in 100+... She's been right where we want her
