I like Porsche people
I just wanted to say, I really like you guys! You see, I came from BMW, where nobody waves to anyone, and the guy with the new m3 doesn't even know my
e30 m3 is an M3, and probably couldn't care less. Usually I'm driving the GT3 at night or really early, no traffic. Today I drove it in the afternoon, and drove by six different porsche in 30 minutes. I know, that's not surprising. What did surprise me though, was that all six of the people waved to me. The Porsches I passed were a boxter, a 993 cab, a 997 c2s, a 996 of some sort, a cayenne, and an older 911. I just wanted to say, I thought it was nice, Thanks! It makes it all the more fun and enjoyable.

Welcome, and enjoy your ride safely.
It actually used to be a sign of courtesy when meeting another P-car on the road to flash your headlights at each other. So much so that I recall PCA doing a "keep the flash alive" propaganda a while back. I make it a point to at least wave. We are all an extended family.

I was never a member of PCA when I owned my first Porsche, so when I bought my current car I joined the club. I was wondering if I would meet a bunch of snobby millionaires, but was very pleasantly surprised to find the friendliest and most down to earth bunch of folks own Porsches. Welcome and enjoy your new car in good health.

Weeeelllll, not entirely.
I've given and received plenty of waves from other M3 drivers, and we've enjoyed some good times with our local BMWCCA chapter. I think you get enthusiasts and brand snobs with all marques. I know I'm pretty much invisible to newer P-car drivers when I'm out in my '86.
The greatest ownership cameraderie I ever experienced was back in 2002 when I owned a Honda S2000. They were very rare back then and I never failed to get waves and flashes from other owners.
But I'm glad you're enjoying your car! Drive safe. And yes...I've flashed at a few E30s.

I still flash lights at every P-car I see (a bit of a rarity here) whether I'm driving the GT3 or 928 GT. Those old habits die hard.
I usually get a flash or a wave from almost all except Boxter's and Cayennes; always from the 356's.

The salutation may come back; it was the rarity of seeing a kindred spirit that brought it about. In California, you see a lot less sports cars than you did before "the Age of the SUV".

Reminds me when I lived up in Tahoe with an under powered car. When I would pull over to let the faster cars by I would always get that "hey thanks" double honk for letting folks get by me.

Here in Dubai, wayyyyyy too many Porsches around to wave at all of them, but GT3 guys do give each other the nod. It's like we are part of a secret sub-society of Porsche owners, those who truly know what Porsches are about
