That...is a pretty car. Bet you get a lot of attention wherever you go. Very nice.
Would be interesting to read your contrast of the Audi vs the Porsche.
Congrats and enjoy!

A very good friend of mine had one and got so fed up with the Audi policies about recalls and not ordering parts until the car was in the shop. The car was in the shop a lot. The steering rack is under a recall program. There were so many issues with that car he got so fed up he traded it for a GT3.

The car is a paddle shifter...the sticker was 168.5k and there was no discount! I am really enjoying as my daily driver. The sound doesn't compare to my RS but I have the sharkwerks bypass on the RS.
I drove the two cars through the canyons sunday and if I could only keep one it would be the RS.

This last Sunday's Season 14 Top Gear had a very interesting review of this car. Clarkson compared it to the ZR-1 and actually prefered the bowtie... For those that know Clarkson, you know that says a lot!
I'll be interested to see how this overall design ages, both asthetically and in regards to reliability. Congrats on your new car, sounds like you have quite the stable.

Congratulations! Nice setup on the R8.
I'm new to the forum, but thought I could share a few impressions after owning a 997TT and R8 v8. I've DE'd both cars extensively and just traded the R8 for a v10 build this month.
For the R8, I had no reliability issues whatsoever though I cannot say the same for the TT which required extensive engine work at 2k miles. There are few words to describe the neutrality of the R8 on track- just amazing. Given the weight though, one quickly eats through brake pad and tires. Shortcoming of this car was the relative lack of torque given its potential. Hopefully the v10 will rectify this. The other issue one has to contend with is the lack of aftermarket parts, safety equipment, etc. for making this a more track dedicated car. As a result, I'm thinking along the lines of ultimately getting into a gt3/rs, perhaps utilizing the R8 for occasional events. I would love to hear more about the comparisons between these. How tolerable is a GT3 for street use?
On the other hand, given the choice of a daily driver, I still favor the 997TT for sheer power, practicality, and the fact that it draws less attention. Having police "escorts" and dudes encroaching on you to snap pics gets tiresome!

I have had a 997TT cab as my daily driver for the past 15 months(I did a fair amount of mods to the car)...I have to say I am really enjoying he R8 on many levels. It is a very well sorted out vehicle!!! And being newly single in Los Angeles after 9 years of marriage the R8 is a major chick magnet. It gets as much attention as my RS and my 430 scud.

I wanted to add a few more comments after driving the R8 for 500 miles. The bottom line is the car is very balanced and easy to drive fast. The motor is very strong and pulls extremely hard in the upper part of the rev band. The brakes are good but I think the ceramics on my RS are better. The paddles are superb although the shifts are not quite as fast as the scud. The ride is very comfortable and the seat is excellent. I have not decided if I will take this car to the track because I love driving the RS on the track and it does not have a rollbar.
Kudos to Audi for building a great it is the perfect daily driver for me. That said, I still have not sold my 997TT because I live in LA and it is sunny quite a bit.
