Default Lightweight HL Question

600 Lightweight Headlights
"Halogen headlights (without headlight washer system). Reduces weight from standard Bi-Xenon headlights with headlight washer system by approximately 13.2 pounds."

Does anyone know how much of the 13.2 pounds is washer fluid?

If the washer fluid reservoir is empty, I wonder how much difference there is between the weight of halogen and Xenon lights?

I don't have my owners manual handy now to look up capacity but a gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds.

Isn't the fluid reservoir the same one that is used on the windshield isn't it? My car has only one filler. I find it hard to believe that the weight savings is there. On the other hand having experienced them first hand, the halogen lights suck for night driving.

I don't think that the washer fluid is counted as a savings, I could be wrong.

Regardless, Xenons are pretty heavy.

Bob is right - the washer fluid reservoir supplies both the winshield wipers and the headlight washers. The washer fluid capacity is 6 liters - I guess about 1 1/2 gallons. So there must be a difference of 13.2 lbs just for headlights not including washer fluid. I guess you could drain most of the washer fluid and save an additional 12 lbs or so. So can save total of approximately 25 lbs by going with halogen headlights, draining washer fluid, and driving only in daylight hours.

I did not delete the Xenon, but I am on a diet... ;-)

I'm already down to 150 pounds, so Xenons are a no-brainer for me... hell, I may as well go for the dynamic cornering lights, too!
