Bummer. But hey, she and you got to have a lot of fun and come home safe... and now you're infamous.
Can't ask for a lot more than that.

im in whistler all winter except for olympics feb 12-28..... rent was too good to turn away for that period.....

rent is actually "Double" the typical highest seasonal rate which is christmas.

however those with homes/condos not yet rented can only expect 20-30% above normal season rates at this point....

there will also be those asking too much and left empty come the olympics....

the high paying renters (officals, media etc) secured accomidations long before the high rent "craze" trend followed..... thus, i suspect some over priced homes and condos will be empty unless deep discounted...... same thing happened in Salt Lake during the olympics.....

With sport mode on, especially under medium to heavy throttle.

^^^ what he says

in non-sport, it is barely louder than any other 997 unless you're playing high C on the skinny pedal

actually, it really isn't a "drone". at that RPM it's more just LOUD. to my ears a drone is an annoyingly loud, low pitched resonance that seems impervious to RPM changes thru a certain range. in the 3 its pitch follows RPMs well and the whole cockpit isn't resonating making you nauseous.

i had a fully -modded 07 Z 06 with BIG exhaust. at 1800 you were crying for your mommy and looking for the barf bag, but no one could hear you, even if they were in the R seat. so compared to that, this is very tolerable. and none of them is like my little friend on the L over there. even with your helmet on you need the earplugs

so, no complaints from me. and on the street i have a very low tolerance for noise.

realistically, if one is worried about the sound from a stock exhaust system, then why would one want a sports car anyhow?

the sound makes the car. And the porsche bone stock is over muffled due to strict emmissions.

I HATE loud exhausts. The main reason I never traded my 996 RS for a 997 is the annoying exhaust butterfly valves and the sheer loudness of the pipes when accelerating hard. My GT3 is my daily driver and loud pipes just become irritating after a while, not to mention annoying your neighbors. The 996 has the perfect balance of sound quality and volume. The 997 just pissed me off every time the revs passed 4k. I have the same problem with the F430, Astons, etc. The noise is all about showing off and being louder than the competition. I don't enjoy drawing attention in this way.

Now, I was perfectly happy to keep my 996 rather than trade it for a 997.1. But the 997.2 RS is a car I want to own, more for the shorter ratios than anything else. But I read somewhere it's louder than the CUP car!!

I do admit that on the right day, in the right mood, on the right road, a loud exhaust is thrilling. But the rest of the time I just want to be able to hammer through the gears without setting off seismic alarms in the next timezone.
